About
Holy Mountain is a brewery and taproom located in the Interbay neighborhood of Seattle, founded by co-owners Colin Lenfesty and Mike Murphy in 2014. The influence of oak has always been the focus of the majority of beers brewed at Holy Mountain. A sizable building near the Seattle waterfront has allowed the team to build a vast stock of oak barrels, puncheons, and foudres used for both primary fermentation as well as long-term aging.

The proximity of the brewery to the Yakima Valley also allows the team of brewers to utilize hops from the best producers in the world, constantly exploring the relationship between hops, oak, and mixed fermentation. Holy Mountain doesn't offer any year-round beers, which creates an ever-changing lineup in the brewery taproom. In addition to oak-influenced beers, Holy Mountain also offers a wide range of rotating, hop-forward ales and lagers.

Typical porter, light, clean, low sweetness, some roast. Low hop, almost Schwarz bier like cleaness. Though dual at the end. Give me a hint of sweet.

Draft 12 oz pour at Bottleworks. Stop #2 on my on foot Seattle crawl. Jet black pour with a tan cream head. Big malty aroma with a coffee feature. Big cream body here, with rich chocolate, roast, and a lingering sweet cream finish. Bold coffee background. Sweetness fights the bitterness throughout, but the sweet finish wins the battle. Overall a solid stout from a place not known for them. Good beer.

At Matt’s place. Very sour slightly funky aroma with a touch of fermented apples in the barrel and even sauerkraut. All the same in taste. Fermented apples aftertaste. Too sour as for me.

Hazy pale blond color, small head. The aroma is a bit lemony, sour, some ass too. Very dry mouthfeel, nice sour level, lemony, fresh, and then more citrus fruit again, light tropical too.

750mL bottle, courtesy of beastiefan2k (thanks Eugene), pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out a nice floral dry hopping, along with brett and lacto, as well as some biscuity malt. Flavour is very well-balanced, with lacto upfront, followed by dank, somewhat skunky hopping, and a highly citric finish. Rather ascorbic / citric, making slightly too astringent. Okay, but subpar for Holy Mountain.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma is quite rustic, with various wild yeasts, some light floral notes and biscuity notes. Flavour is very bright, with loads of lovely wild yeast, biscuity malt, and light floral notes. The yeast character makes this what it is. Wonderful depth and complexity. Excellent.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is quite tart and oaky, with wild yeast and wood. Flavour is very complex, with loads of oak, barnyard funk, and various other wild yeast contributing to the complexity. Harmonious and highly drinkable. Excellent.
