About
Holy Mountain is a brewery and taproom located in the Interbay neighborhood of Seattle, founded by co-owners Colin Lenfesty and Mike Murphy in 2014. The influence of oak has always been the focus of the majority of beers brewed at Holy Mountain. A sizable building near the Seattle waterfront has allowed the team to build a vast stock of oak barrels, puncheons, and foudres used for both primary fermentation as well as long-term aging.
The proximity of the brewery to the Yakima Valley also allows the team of brewers to utilize hops from the best producers in the world, constantly exploring the relationship between hops, oak, and mixed fermentation. Holy Mountain doesn't offer any year-round beers, which creates an ever-changing lineup in the brewery taproom. In addition to oak-influenced beers, Holy Mountain also offers a wide range of rotating, hop-forward ales and lagers.

About a year old keg on draft for anniversary party at brewery. Something was absolutely wrong with this but it only seemed to bother me. Some compound that I must sensitive to bur it was all phenolicy or something weird. I couldn’t drink it at all.

Draft. It’s too grassy. I want this beer to be all white grape and melon, all Australian white wine shit. But it’s too grassy. Some of the other good stuff but the grassiness is getting in the way.

Draft during 1st anniversary party HoMo. Slick golden color, low clarity, like a lot of their beers. Aroma is has grapefruit but it’s not strong. The grapefruit shines most in the aftertaste, dry tart skin. Flavor not thinned out, thank goodness. Lightly funky but full bodied for style.

Draft during 1st anniversary party HoMo. Slick golden hazy appearance. Aroma has light canned peaches coming through. Light but present. Otherwise, funky peach skins. Flavor, I find commonly in peach beers, thins out a bit. Aftertaste is long and tart, really nice tartness that sticks around. Oh, apparently this is apricots but it comes off as peaches. Love the tartness and lightness but want more from the bulk of the flavor.

Draft pour pint at E9. Pours a clear golden color with a fizz ring head. Grassy, well balanced aroma and flavor. Crisp, refreshing saison. Far from typical saison in my opinion. Hints of citrus and a big bitter finish. Was alright.

750mL bottle, pours a murky bright pinkish red with a small white head. Aroma is quite funky, with notes of lacto, raspberries and cherries - loads of yogurt on this. Flavour is really well-balanced, with notes of yogurt from the lacto, followed by cherries and raspberries. Quite funky, dominated by the lacto. Complex and wonderfully balanced. Excellent.

Draft pour at the brewery. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a fizz ring head. Tart aroma with big grain. Flavor us sour ctrus fruit, smooth grain, and a hint of grape. Nice tart, easy drinking beer. Lovely stuff.

Half pour at brewery. No clarity golden yellow. Aroma is bright lemon funky brett. Spike and herbal as well. Lively for sure. Flavor is similar with lots of tartness and sharpness on the cheeks. Really light, cleanses the pallet. Exactly what it’s designed to be. Maybe a bit too sharp on the cheeks, would hurt if I just ate spicy food.

Draft pour at the brewery. Glowing cloudy yellow pour with a fading head. Tart lemon aroma. Flat or is lemon heavy, soft grain, sour grape, apple and citrus. Grainy sour citrus finish. I’ve hesitated on these guys so far, but if this is what I’m missing, I have some catching up to do.

Draft pour at Brouwers. Darker golden pour with a thin fizz head. Malty aroma with a hint of apple. A little on the boozy side up front, spice heavy, moderate fruit. Finishes on a lingering fruit. A bit harsh, but good.
