Foxy-amber; huge yellow/amber head, very lacey. Sweet nose, caramel- & chocolatemalts, some candi sugar, spices (mint?) and alcohol. Taste is rather dry than sweet - probably very attenuated. Again something fresh-minty in the flavour, bit of chocolate. But the palate is curiously empty. Medium bodied. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. If ever a beer I don't get the height of... I even cannot tell whether I like it or not. I suppose so, but it wouldn't appear in my recommendations list. I agree with Alex that it's reminiscent of Westmalle Dubbel.

Cloudy amber color. Nice aroma, malty, with caramel, liquorice and esters. Dryer than expected, malty, with caramel and quite strong liquorice; light fudge. A good Dubbel, well mature.

Flunky opaque peach-yellow beer, fluffy white head. Nice, very fruity nose: unripe peaches or nectarines, and lactic as from buttermilk. Smells actually like some fruited slimming drink... Surprising taste, because bitterness is the first: my taste tells me a high coloured malts content, though my eyes say different; even rubbery. Then the taste turns to tart, the palate remaining burnt-bitter. I suspect hops too, but their aromas are missing. Some acidburn. The 9% ABV is absolutely stunning - no trace of it. Is this "superattenuated" as gueuze? Very surprising beer - I do not know of any similar in Belgium. VERY unlike usual Proefbeers. I agree with Josh that the nose promesses more than taste delivers. An appropriate one thousand thanks to Dr. Bill! New rating - Vlaamse Primitief (Dutch label) with another Brueughel painting with the hooknose; on 75 cl Orange-gold; very creamy near-white head. [4/5] Brett nose, "Orvally", leather, dry hopsacks. [8/10] Dry taste, with hops, chalk, grain, and a sourish edge, which cries Brett to hight heaven. I’m very impressed with its balance. [7/10] Velvety MF, creamy, well-bodied. [4/5] Very nice, especially compared to the original with the Dutch/Flemish name of near a decennium ago; it’s become really adult. Great. [16/20]

Darker yellow with all little specks of UFO's; huge fluffy snow-white head. Hops - aromahops, faint cake, white candi sugar. Liquorice-sweet and vegetable (+ some hoppy) bitterness, not blending, but clashing. Not my idea. Very full-bodied. Fuller than most dry tripels are. It IS still dry, however. Sorry, but this doesn't convince me. I agree it might be just my opinion. But my co-taster said exactly the same.

Hazy cola-brown color, short but lasting head, fair lacing. Loads of dense particles floating around. Weak aroma of roasted malts, some coffee, rye, yeast. Taste is roasted malts, port-like almost (although it is BB june '05), quite sweet. Slightly sticky palate.

Dark chestnut colour, clear; light greige head, irregular. Sweet chocolate-and-fondant (confectionnary sugar) smell. Touch of diacetyl. Malty aroma's as well. Almondy, rich malts, orange peel(just enough to give fruity impressions) in the taste. Fuselalcohols and and many fruity esters. Well-bodied, alcohol-burn. This is the Proef at its best. Despite the slight diacetyl impression, the beer is technically perfect - but at the same time interesting and satisfying.

The aroma is sour and hoppy, like a low alcohol beer. The color is hazy light yellow and it has a disappearing head. The flavor is malty dry and hoppy. But the hoppyness is sour as in a low alcohol beer. It misses the malt sweetness. I don't want this one again.

A hazy orange beer with a fine head. The aroma is sweet with distinct notes of yeast and apples. The flavor is sweet yeasty and very spicy with a dry ending. A nice beer.

Pale orange, hazy; slim white ring with some lace. Sweet nose, candi sugar, spicey-peppery. Very sweet taste, lots of coriander, bit soupy. Medium-bodied. Beer is virtually devoid of aftertaste. Made perfectly, more than reasonable aroma, bland boring taste. I wonder if they want to start concurrence the big brewers now, at De Proef. Rerated 9/10/04 Much better impression - especially impressed by the balance of this beer. Balance between hops, malts, orange zeste flavour is great. I have added some points on taste and overall. Brewed for the village Kluizen near Ertvelde
