Pours almost clear yellow, a bit of white foam. Aroma is fresh and grassy, some biscuits and a bit of grain. Taste is crisp, fresh bread dominates, clean and completely malt-forward. Simple session beer - but much better than I expected.

Tap at Sapporo Craft Beer Forest. Cloudy, bright golden color. Sightly doughy, biscuity nsoe, oranges, Belgian yeast. Sweet and tart, oranges and esters. Decent work blending hops and yeast character. Good.

Dark brown. Roasty nose with some light diacetyl. Similar palate, the roast nice but sweet sugar and diacetyl causing problems.

I’m not entirely sure what this was, but at 8% and with the phenols it seemed like they were going Belgian or something. Lighter amber with haze. Medium head. Sweeter, bit of bubblegum, touch of alcohol, similar palate. Sweetish but there’s some balancing bitterness though it would probably get cloying if you drank a pint.

"Amber 5%". Slight haze, light amber. Medium head. Aroma has a slightly harsh crackery note. Similar palate, bit thin and husky, finishes crackery.

Can from Chitose Airport. First off be aware, this is nowhere near an IPA, it’s more of an English Strong Ale or a Light Barley Wine. Pours a clear amber with a nice soapy white head that lingers with great lacing. Aromas of caramel, peach, cinnamon and alcohol. Taste is more of the same with average carbonation and a warming finish. Very interesting if not considered an IPA. --- Beer merged from original tick of India Pale Ale on 06 Aug 2015 at 19:22 - Score: 5

Can from Kyoto Isetan. 5% It pours a clear brown with a thin beige head that vanished fast. The nose is grainy, nutty, a bit buttery and somewhat cake like. Med-thin with a scratchy carbonation. The flavor is nutty, a bit metallic, a touch buttery, bitter and grainy. Like the Amao, not terrible per se but not all that good either. Then again I don’t care for the alt style so much.
