Description
In 2012 it happened that Johannes Heidenpeter, master brewer and owner of Heidenpeters, was allowed to enjoy an English porter by chance. He liked it so much that he started brewing at home, experimented a little and delighted his friends and acquaintances with great beers. The decision to open his own micro-brewery quickly grew in him. The trained artist, who graduated from the art college in Berlin, finally got to know the operators of the Markthalle Neun in Berlin-Kreuzberg and had them taste his beers. They were also immediately enthusiastic and an agreement was reached. With some borrowed money, Johannes went to work and tinkered with his own small brewery. In the meantime, Johannes Heidenpeter brews his creations on a small scale directly in the cellar of the Markthalle Neun.

330mil bottle in Markthalle Neun on 22nd January 2026. Obtained from the Mani Pasta place it's brewed for. Didn't have any Pasta though. Perfectly adequate Pils without setting the world alight. Golden and bright with a white head, typical Pilsner in looks, aroma and taste.

Draft at the source inside the Markthalle Neun on 22nd January 2026. Amber body with a Ruby hint and a white crust. Piney hop front, loads of earthy bitterness with fruity undertones, there's a Weat Coast edge to this, reminded me of the Californian IPA's of years ago.

Copper-amber colour and small steady white head and lace. Piney, resiny, caramalty nose. Medium-bodied. Quite sweet West Coast ipa and bitterness is in the old school level. A bit unbalanced.
