Description
Founded in 1924 by Pierre Saugrain, he produced the Vallée de la Seiche cider until his death in 1953. He was followed up by Maurice Lemoine. Lemoine introduced new products ('cidre brut' & 'cidre demi-sec') and started commercialising by introducing bottled ciders (75cl, 37,5cl and 25cl). In 1991 Michel Maman took over the company when Lemoine retreated. In 2001 the Maman company further expanded the portfolio with 'cidre fermier' using the fruit from an orchard in Côtes d’Armor à Kerpellen near the settlement Trévérec.
Today La Vallée de la Seiche is an innovative fruit product company with a wide range of innovative products, such as Cidre Rose - cider aromatised with roses, Ratapoire - a pear equivalent to Pommeau de Bretagne, etc.

750 ml. bottle sampled @ Van Moll Fest 2015. Quite fizzy golden orange,… Light barnyard in the nose, apple skins, touch candy, sweetish. Heavy on the sugar taste-wise, candy, sweet apple, touch apple skins, some buried barnyard notes. Too sweetish but enjoyable for sure.

Cloudy copper color, small head, not persistent. Aroma of ripe apples, light cheese, light apple vinegar. Semi dry mouthfeel, it still has light residual sweetness and quite some tannins from the apple skins, apple juice flavor, mature. Low acidity. Rough, but pleasant.

Draught at La Fine Mousse, Paris
Beautiful golden color. Nice aroma of apples, with an acidic edge, some lemon, fresh. Semi-dry mouthfeel, but also smoother than expected; good flavor of ripe apples and apple skins, with a lot of tannins and therefore an evident astringency.
A classic farmhouse French cider, very good.

Hazy pale blind color, no head; there is some yeast sediment in the bottle. Nice aroma of French apples with a delicate touch of hazelnuts. Dry mouthfeel, not too dry, with nice apple juice flavor, lemony acidity, balanced final where some moderate sugar appears.
Elegant.

Bottle from Chemins de Bretagne, Paris; synthetic cork
Measured Final Gravity: 1033
Light amber color, full of light. Deep aroma of honey and beewax, quite floral. The mouthfeel is sweet but not syrupy; strong flavor of common honey, floral, with beewax, but also an appreciate fruity background, some alcohol perception, and almost some kind of bitterness.
Not the most complex one, but drinkable.
