My 100th NZ beer rating, on the sixth day of my trip, and it comes in the least likely place - Taupo, more or less a beer desert. Fortunately I planned ahead and stocked up in Rotorura and Okere. Bottle. Cloudy to murky variegated golden orange color, big fluffy white head. Beautiful aroma of orange, peach, pineapple, tropical fruit, herbal weeds. Taste is bitter dried tropical fruit. Dry finish. I vote against the church on this one - it doesn’t seem pernicious to me at all.

(Bottle) Clear orange brown colour (reminded me somewhat of Lucozade) with a loose tan head, again with some orange hints in it. Lovely fruity aroma, primarily citrusy hops, but with some interesting earthy hints and some other odd hard to place notes. Light body with good carbonation. Taste is impressive and unusual. At heart it is a good well hopped IPA, and citrus flavours turning to pleasant bitterness over a biscuity malt is the backbone of the flavour. However there is a lot more going on on top of this. Chili is detectable, more from heat than flavour. There are several other lighter more refreshing flavours that I struggle to identify but can associate with Vietnamese salad ingredients. A very interesting and unusual beer. I would not drink it regularly, but it is a fine piece of brewing with innovative flavour combinations.

Pours dark amber with a fading head.Nose shows rich sweet syrupy malt along with resionous and fruity hops. Marmalade, peach and plum. NiceVery aggressive flavours. Piny and resinous hops dominate along with a massive bitterness. Lots of malt too, but the bitterness wins out for sure.Carbonation could be a bit higher.

Pours gold with a large, fading head.Nose shows spicy and floral hops along with some grassy notes and a little soft malt.Flavours include grainy malt, spicy and herbal hops and a very faint passion fruit note. Quite an aggressive sharp bitterness in the finish.Needs more carbonation.

Pours gold/amber with a fading white head.Nose shows spicy and floral hops. Also some bready malt.Pretty aggressive flavours. Very bitter. Some spicy hops and pine along with a soft grapefruit note. The sharp bitterness is overbearing.Carbonation seems excessive.

Pours amber with a small head.Nose shows sweet clean malt, herbal notes, tropical fruity hops and biscuity malt.Hoppy flavours, with some herbal astringency too. Chilli is noticeable as a burn on the back of the throat. Can’t detect much of the fruit and mint though.Too much carbonation.

Pours dark amber with a lasting head.Nose shows resinous hops with some fruity notes too. Some caramel anf fruity confectionery.Pretty aggressive flavours, very hoppy with some grassy notes and spicy hops. Not much in the way of malt.Too highly carbonated.
