En 1896, el maestro cervecero alemán José Fischer llegó a Punta Arenas con un ambicioso sueño: establecer la primera planta cervecera del país, la más austral del mundo.

Aunque permanece en el mismo lugar desde su fundación, el crecimiento de la ciudad la ha situado en el corazón de Punta Arenas, convirtiéndola en un emblema de la región y un atractivo turístico imperdible para los visitantes.

Cervecería Austral ha mantenido sus procesos productivos casi intactos, preservando la visión original de José Fischer. Sus cervezas, elaboradas con ingredientes de la Patagonia y el agua más pura, nos sumergen en sus sabores inigualables.

En la actualidad, ofrecemos 5 variedades: Lager, Patagona 508, Yagán, Calafate, premiada como la CHILE WINNER 2022 en la categoría Cervezas Saborizadas en los World Beer Awards y Torres del Paine, reconocida como la mejor en la categoría Helles Bock.

Smell of starch, malt. Golden colour, white head. Aroma of malt, hops, overripe fruit. Some starchiness and bread come in finish. It's bulk lager, but the flavours are rather pure. Medium bitter, medium dry palate. Flat carbon.

24/12/2018. Bottle from a store near the cruise passenger terminal in Puerto Montt. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of liquorice, chocolate, malt, nut, toffee, moderate toasting and dark fruit. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, oily and watery texture, bit above average carbonation. Started strongly, but faded quickly.

10/12/2018. Bottle from Jumbo Costanera Center, Santiago. Pours chestnut brown with an average size off-white to beige head. Aroma of malt, fruit, veg, cola, hint of herb and chocolate. Medium plus sweetness with light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily and watery texture, bit above average carbonation. Slightly sour finish develops, with a bit of unpleasant bitterness. Not great.

Bottle at Internationales Berliner Bierfestival 2018. Dark brown/red with a large tan head. Thin and sweet with some dark malt, bread, caramel and hints of corn. Nothing to write home about.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark copper-brown colour with ruby glimmer and small to average, frothy, fading, off-white head. Caramel malty and minimally fruity, hoppy aroma, hints of cherry, a minimally earthy, nutty touch. Taste is sweet-ish malty, fruity, hints of caramel, a minimally toasty touch, restricted hints of cherry. So-so.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from 'CraftBeer-Dealer.com', bottled in April 2017. Clear, dark amber with a thin, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, almost sugary aroma of caramel, honey and some grains. Quite sweet, malty, minimally bitter taste of caramel, toasted bread, nuts and some honey, followed by a short, moderately bitter and slightly dry finish. Almost medium-bodied, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

330ml bottle. Clear, reddish brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Sweet-ish, slightly sugary, dark malty aroma, slightly artificial hints of red and dark berries, cherry. Taste delivers similar flavours, hints of artificial sweetener. Flattering sweet, slightly artificial.

33cl bottle. Pours clear dark amber colour with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of nutty malt, caramel, reddish malt, yeast. Taste of mild roasted red malt, carmamel, mild spicy hops, okay!

33cl bottle. Pours dark reddish brown colour with a huge most good lasting beige head. Aroma of dark malt, mild sweetness, nuts and caramel. Taste of nuts, caramel, some reddish fruits, red malt, a bit artifical, nothing special.
