Description
Kinn Bryggeri AS was incorporated in April 2009.

Here at Kinn we create craft beers in the English and Belgian traditions based on the purest mountain water from Sagafjella. Ancient craftsmanship - open fermentation and bottle conditioning - are important to us. None of our beers are ever pasteurised or filtered, and every one of them is brewed in our two breweries in Florø. Kinn beers are available off the shelf throughout Norway, and we also export to selected countries.

Tap @ Både &. Slightly unclear golden body with a small but dense white head. Aroma is fruity berries and light acidic. Flavor is mild acidic berries, raspberries. Medium body and average aftertaste with the same flavor. Refreshing but pretty straight forward and mild in expression.

Bottle. Slightly unclear golden body with a medium sized, disappearing white head. Nice fruity citric aroma with flowers and fresh grass. Flavor is soft, mild, light pale malt with citric fruit, flowers, grass and rather much bitterness. Fine balanced body and refreshing fruity aftertaste with a pleasant bitterness.

Tap @ Bakgården Både &. Unclear dark golden body with a small off-white head. Mild aroma with malt, ripe fruit and feels a bit like some kind of herbs I’m not able to recognize. Flavor is sweet and smooth malt, the same kind of ripe fruit, marmalade, a touch of herbal tea and moderate bitterness. OK body and average aftertaste. A bit unusually, and I don’t immediately think of an IPA drinking this, maybe this would come out even a bit more interesting with more hops. Sure interesting to figure out this new hop variety, but I have a feeling that this could have been more distinct in flavor.

Bottle. Unclear golden body with a big, foamy white head. Aroma is mostly grassy and herbal hops, not that much fruit really but gives some kind of general mature fruity feeling anyway. Flavor is much the same, medium sweet pale malt, grassy and herbal bitterness with a touch of some kind of mature, not dry fruitiness. Pleasant bitterness. Medium body and bitter aftertaste. Quite pleasant and refreshing and perhaps closer to something British than American?

Tap @ Både &, Kristiansand. Unclear yellow golden body with a decent white head. Aroma is fruity with yeast, flowers and some pale malt. Flavor is sweet and fruity with pale malt, but surprisingly fresh and easy drinkable for the high ABV. Floral with spicy yeast, some esters, hint of alcohol after a while and a bit sugary towards the end. Fine balanced body and rather long lasting, sweet fruity aftertaste. A nice and very refreshing balancing on the edge between sweet, refreshing, light and alcoholic. Brilliant.

Bottle from GulatiBottle from Gulating. Slightly unclear golden with a fine, stable white head. Aroma has pale malt and refreshing peaches and citric fruit in general. Flavor is refreshing as well, mild pale malt, refreshing fruity as aroma, decent bitterness, quite smooth. Medium body and average aftertaste with some distinct bitterness towards the end. Easy drinkable, should not offend anyone but not boring either.

Bottle from Meny. Unclear reddish brown to amber body with a nice tan head. Aroma has malt, bread, toast and some red fruit. Flavor is smooth and soft malt, mild caramel, toast, biscuit, hint of dry fruit and balanced bitterness. Fine balanced body and average aftertaste. Had this for my wok and it’s a superb beer for food. Balanced and enjoyable with a healthy malt base.

Tap @ Bakgården Både &. Unclear orange golden body with a small off-white head. Mild aroma with malt and a little hint of toffee. Flavor is mostly malty, quite smooth, some fruitiness in general and low bitterness. Medium body and aftertaste. Drinkable but this is not really my favorite style.

Bottle from MENY. Hazy golden/orange/gray body with a medium sized, lacing off-white head. Aroma is pretty classic saison with mild fruit, spices, saison yeast – reminds my actually much of a classic Wallonia Sasion. This goes for the flavor as well as I feel the Belgium version tend to be more characteristic spicy, yeasty end estery than the France version. Anyway, this is a fine, classic, well balanced Saison with it’s typical distinct but kinda subtle fruit and spicy flavor. Nice as a thirst quencher but also something to enjoy while searching for different flavors that might be a bit hidden at the first impression.

Bottle. Unclear golden body with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is slightly unpleasant, some kind of spiced/herbal yeasty something – not sure what to compare with but have an impression of nothing wrong, just no very pleasant. Flavor is like a rather plain Biere de garde thatch actually been watered down and have some unpleasant herbal/spice flavors in addition. Plain, slightly unpleasant and boring is the verdict.
