Description
Kinn Bryggeri AS was incorporated in April 2009.

Here at Kinn we create craft beers in the English and Belgian traditions based on the purest mountain water from Sagafjella. Ancient craftsmanship - open fermentation and bottle conditioning - are important to us. None of our beers are ever pasteurised or filtered, and every one of them is brewed in our two breweries in Florø. Kinn beers are available off the shelf throughout Norway, and we also export to selected countries.

Cask at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Very dark reddish brown colour, moderate beige head. Lovely vinous aroma, notes of port wine, caramel and nuts, hints of marzipan. The flavour is definitely on the sweet side, but not cloying. Vinous and very fruity notes (fresh and rum-drenched fruits), the sweetness is to some extent balanced by decent hops in the finish. An unusual and very nice Christmas beer, better suited to accompany fruits and nuts, rather than the robust traditional Nordic Christmas dinners. Might go well with turkey and cranberry sauce, though.

Handpump at Naboen, Bergen. Pours thick fuzzy orange body with a quite large and long-lasting nice creamy white head. Tastes of fruity hops with a subtle metallic-bitter taste. Lots of malt, with a long lasting bitter aftertaste. ---------------------------------- Re-rated 09.03.2011 0.75l bottle @ Naboen, Bergen. Pours a semi-clear light orange body with a thin sticky just off-white head. Nose is strawberry syrup, quite light and slightly hopy with some floral notes. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. Tastes quite nice with notes of grassy hops, good amount of malt, hints of honey and a nice medium bitter, slightly sour and dry finish.

Big offwhite head. Hazy amber body with lots of carbonation. Fruity strawy fresh resin aroma with pine needle was and flowers aroma. Wow. It really smells like resin from a fresh cut tree. Dry-sweet honey and flowers taste with spicy waxy wooden notes. Light body. Mild, delicate mouthfeel. Dryish mealy fruity floral aftertaste with honey and straw notes. Also faint barnyard notes. Lovely! Incredibly drinkable, with wonderful harmony. Nicely bitter. The fresh resin taste slowly settles as i drink. Absolutely amazing. (0.75l bottle, Den Gode Nabo, Trondheim. Labeled juni 2010.)

750 ml capped bottle, courtesy of the brewer. ABV is 4.7%. The glass fills completely by white foam, and the golden beer appears only slowly. When the head eventually is low enough to make the beer drinkable from my tall glass, the remaining carbonation is very moderate. I think the refermentation in the bottle has gone a bit "bananas" here, seems not right for an English style bitter. Quite nice aroma of Fuggles and Centennial hops, notes of blackcurrants, hints of butterscotch and honey. The flavour has a decent hoppy character from the Fuggles and Centennial, and a bitterness of 35 IBU (mainly from the Target hops). The malts in the background seem just about right, with only a tad of honeyish sweetness from the pale crystal malts. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pilegrim Glutenfri on 12 Jul 2022 at 18:56 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 4.5 | Flavor - 5.5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5. Original review text: 330 ml bottle, batch #1848, from Coop Extra Sauda. ABV is 4.5%. Brownish deep golden colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Aroma of malts, yeast (too yeasty) and earthy hops. The flavour is tolerably malty and slightly citric, again too yeasty, moderate earthy hops in the finish.

750 ml corked and wired bottle, courtesy of the brewer. ABV is 4.7%. Brewed exclusively for Knutholmen, www.knutholmen.no . Traditional witbier ingredients. Hazy pale golden colour, huge white head. Typical witbier aroma of coriander, cloves and orange peel - nice. Moderate carbonation in the glass, when the beer finally appears below the foamy head. Soft mouthfeel. Refreshing flavour, notes of coriander, cloves and citrus - but the hops (Northern Brewer and EKG) are too moderate, even for a witbier. IBU is only 15. Still a nice and very drinkable thirstquencher.

On tap @ Håndverkstuene. Hazy, dark orange body with a tiny off- head. Strong aroma of peaches, grapefruit, apricot and pine. Flavor is dominated by citric fruity bitterness, lots of bitterness, some caramel malt – and did I mention BITTER. Not particular complex, rather straightforward IPA, but very nice indeed as a refreshing thirst-quencher for the hophead. I like it a lot.

500ml draught at Håndverkerstuene where it was nicely served in a cognac glass and at the very right drinking temperature, that is lightly chilled. Just a small skinny trip of white foam at the surface and no lacing. Unclear, almost murky, orange coloured body. Deep fruity aroma with a mixture of pineapples and grapefruits. In-depth hoppy taste of grapefruits and citric shells added a peppery touch. Long-lived bittersweet ending. Full bodied and rather heavy to drink (Oslo, 31.08.2010).

Some astringency in mouthfeel. Dry-bitter fruity orangey floral aftertaste with strawy citric notes. Lovely. (0.33l draft at Haandverkerstuene, Oslo.)

Small offwhite head. Deep dark red body. Roasty earthy coffee grounds aroma with chocolate and faint fruity notes is incredibly vivid. Dryish roasty chocolate and coffee grounds taste with light acidic and mealy earthy vinuous notes. Light body. Soft mealy mouthfeel. Dry earthy papery burnt aftertaste with mealy fruity notes. Lovely! Vivid, full of character, and highly drinkable. Harmonic, too. (0.75l bottle.)
