Sample at La Trappe Cafe. Hazy bright yellow-gold color with a medium white head that dissipates quickly to a film. Short strings of lacing. Floral and fruity aroma with yeast notes. Light to medium body with flavors of mildly tart fruit, floral yeast and malt. The finish is jasmine and fruity yeast. Above average overall.

On draft at the Albany Taproom. It pours an amber reddish color with a light khaki head. The aroma has bright pleasant red fruit, berries and plum with hints of sweet raisin and syrup. Some toasted malt. The flavor is sweet with fruity maltiness. Lots of plum, a little caramel and toasted malt. Medium earthy bitterness. Not much hop flavor. Light to medium bodied with perfect carbonation. The sweet maltiness and earthy, lightly piney dank bitterness is well balanced. Not really what I would call a hoppy red. Good. I could drink a pint or two of this under the right circumstances.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a very dark brown color with a light brown head. The aroma is strong with coffee and some cream with light hints of nuts and toasted malt. Pretty balanced between the sweet cream, coffee and malt. The flavor is very creamy with great coffee character, a little smoke, chocolate and heavy cream. Not too sweet. There’s a little roasted malt bite in the finish. Very velvety on the palate. Really nice stuff. Definitely my favorite of the ones I had on this visit.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a clear pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is nice with some white grape, fruit basket and pineapple. Mosaic always seems to descend into an overripe fruit basket to me if it’s over done....The flavor has pale malt, a little grass with strong grassy bitterness. Pretty dry and crisp on the palate. There’s a little white grape and crackers in there too. It’s missing a little of the hop flavor that I would expect from this blend, but it’s still a pretty decent drinker.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a mostly clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma has grapefruit, melon and a little passionfruit. The flavor has orange juice and a little pineapple. Pretty high acidity for the style. Snappy on the palate. It has low grainy maltiness with a little spicy bitterness in the finish. Pretty drinkable, but not as intense as the better ones in this sub style.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a rather dark orange color with an off white head. The aroma is a little buttery and grainy with some toasted malt. The butter seems to be malt related rather than diacetyl. The hops come across as orange and minty. The flavor is the same. Orange with hints of flowers, mint and toasted malt. No butter in the flavor. Meh.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a clear deep golden orange color with a frothy off white head. The aroma is as advertised with big pineapple, some passionfruit and minor hints of caramel malt. The flavor is the same. Fruity pineapple hops with a little more toasted/caramel malt in the background. It has some pretty strong herbal/piney bitterness that lingers. Not bad. A bit harsh in the finish though.
