About
Crouch Vale Brewery was established in 1981 by two beer enthusiast. The brewery was cobbled up from whatever was available cheaply. In 2006 a new brewery, purpose-built and capable of much more consistent and better product quality, was opened. However, the original production ethos was (and still is) maintained – ingredients are purchased on quality rather than price and the brewery is still manned by real people, who hand-craft the beers.

A slightly hazy yellow/orange beer with a small head. The aroma is hoppy with citrus notes. The flavor is very fresh fruity and flowery with notes of straws, lemonpeel, grapefruit, and aroma hops. A nice refreshing beer.

[Cask at Charlie's Bar] The aroma is very hoppy and sweet. There has been used a really good aroma hop. The aroma is like that of an IPA. The color is orange with a very small head. The hops hits You from the first sip - but is very well-balanced with a well proportioned sweetness. There has been used really good bitter hop as well as aroma hop. A really nice beer - just my style.

Amber color. Hop aroma, turning to be a bit cheesy. Light body, classic fresh drinkable Bitter, nevertheless with a good hop character. Somehow yeasty.

Golden color, with small head. The aroma is mild, but it expresses a nice hoppy, citrusy touch, followed by light biscuity malts. It has an average body structure and the mouthfeel is not too dry; quite good toffee flavor, with a good hopping level, although not as fresh as it should be, a bit citrusy.
A good refreshing summer beer.

Hazy blond color, with small creamy head. Mild aroma of malt and fruity hops, delicate. Good and smooth mouthfeel, malt flavor with light caramel, some fruitiness, correct bitterness. Good without being spectacular.
And, to be honest, this place full of cigarette smoke is not the best place to taste beers.

Hazy blond color, creamy head. The hop gives a wonderful aroma, fruity. It has a lean flavor, with toffee, on the dry side; good bitterness level; but the end is quite weak.

Hazy orange color. Wonderful hop aroma, flowery and grassy. Velvety, a good maltiness completely overwhelmed by the hop aromas. I love those hop infusions, I’m going to sleep very well tonight!
Crouch Vale is definitively one of my best breweries.

[Cask at Cockney Pub, Århus] The nose is very nicely hoppy. The color is amber with and it has a fine bubbly head. The flavor is very hoppy, but also sweet to start off, and then it turns a fine bitter, that lasts a long time. A really fine bitter, and a really fine refreshing summer beer - I loved it.

Dark color. Too much yeast in the nose. Lot of malt, and more of hops, with a long strong final. Good but too much homebrew-like, not at the same level as other Crouch Vale's.

[Cask at Cockney Pub] A dark brown almost black beer with a very small head. The aroma is slightly fruity and the flavor is very bitter right from the start with a good aftertaste, that prickles the tongue. It is a flat and a little thin.

Brown-amber color. Very nice aroma, flowery, elderflower... Bitter, fresh, flowery, wonderful (delicate elderflower again). Long, persistent final.
A giant flowery bitter.

[Cask conditioned, hand pumped]
Dark color. Wonderful aroma, powerful; roasted barley, hop, fruity.
Similar appreciation for the taste, with loads of roasted malts, a pretty heavy hopping and an evident fruitness (cassis and berries), all perfectly married together, turning into a boldly bitter final, with enough caramel. Wonderful and original, rare.
Compared to Henry London Porter, it has a weaker body (only in the alcohol content), less hop character, but a far sharper fruitness.
Great beer!
