(Can) Pours clear ruddy amber with big pale amber head. Subtle aroma of caramel and pine. Medium body, well carbonated. Taste starts with subtle caramel and tea notes and ends with some reasonable hoppy bitterness. Quite drinkable.

(Can 5.5%) Pours very dark brown with tiniest pale tan head. Nice aroma, dominantly coffee, with notes of vanilla. Full bodied, smooth with very fine carbonation. Good taste. Coffee again dominant with notes of vanilla and dark roast grain. There’s some pleasant sweetness to balance the black coffee bitterness. Very well done with good balance and very drinkable.

(Can) Pours opaque very dark brown with tiny tan head. Good aroma with plenty of banana with hints of maple and cake mixture. Full body with good bright carbonation. Enjoyable and unusual taste starting sweet and ending with burnt bitterness. The start has toffee, maple and banana which linger throughout the palate. There is a slowly developing bitterness that kicks in at the end. It provides a good contrast to the sweetness but is just a bit too harsh, and it’s not a hoppy bitterness, more very strong coffee or burnt sugar, maybe soy sauce (autolysis?). Unusual, enjoyable but a bit harsh in the finish.

Can. Clear amber with an inch of white head that lasts OK. Seething under-ripe tropical fruit, grapefruit and grassy aroma with light bread, fresh sap. Just more than medium bodied. Clean, moderately sweet at first. Fruit gives way to resin, grass and a building bitter finish. Rambunctious.

Can from Lane Cellars, Orange. Off black cola colour with a tan head. Aroma and taste are buckets of caramel sweet to slight coffee bitter, also damp basement, and a weird aftertaste. Slightly thin.

From a 440ml can on 3/3/2024. Pours a slightly opaque golden with a smallish head. Has a muted fruity nose. On the sip, there's a decent dash of citrus and stone fruit sweetness, followed by a very modest bitterness. Silky mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Easy drinking but a bit dull.

Can (Costco). Gold with an inch of white head. 3+ Aroma of mandarin, tropical compote, crackers. Perhaps the citrus is a little sharper in the taste. Dryish with lightly spiced bitterness. A good dustcutter.

Can. Clear amber with an off white head. Wafty aroma of grapefruit, pine, breadcrust. A throwback to the time of crystal malt IPAs, but the caramel fits well with the oozing pine and tenor register citrus before fairly strong bitterness.

Aromas of maple, lemon, sweet biscuit and Worcestershire sauce. The hops are surprisingly strong in the mouth, and the other flavours nicely balanced. Really enjoying this one (I do wonder if the slight weird taste in my mouth today accounts for the Worcestershire taste!).

Can. Pale gold with a white head. Leanish aroma with gooseberry, white grapes, grass, crackers. Light bodied, could have used a few more bubbles. Not as dry as guessed but full of Kiwi hops and quite bitter at the end. Pretty good.
