(Bottle, 0.33 l - 5.4% ABV - batch 004 - BBE 05/06/2014, from Drink Baar, 20140315) The beer poured almost black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had smoke, burnt rubber, smoked ham and roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Aftertaste was smoky, sweet and bitter. A pleasant smoked porter but it also contained some unpleasant rubbery and medical notes.

Shared bottle. 5.4 % abv, Coal black body. Good lacework. Bready malts to the nose, ashy dry. Roasted grainy malts to the taste buds, hints of chocolate, vague underlying tartness. Moderate malt bitter ending. Average for the style (Grand Tasting at the great RBNG in Halden, 15.02.2014).

From 33cl bottle at Grand tasting (RBNG-14). Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Mild smoky aroma with pleasant roasty notes, hints of dark fruits, malt and hints of chocolate. Moderate sweet with some lightly sour notes and a fairly light bitterness. A bit thin, but quite well balanced and pleasant. (2014-02-15)

Bottle, at RBNG-14 Grand Tasting. An unclear, brown beer with a small, beige head. Roasted malts, dark chocolate and a hint of licorice in the aroma. The flavor is a bit too sourish, with the same roasted malts and dark chocolate. No licorice detected in the flavor. A little bitterness showing up towards the end, mostly of the roasted, malty kind. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting finish. Pretty nice this one. 140215

330 ml bottle. Pours dark coffee brown with a beige head that is gone fast. Aroma is heavily roasted with some tar-like dark fruit essence and burnt black bread. Taste is also quite heavy with roast flavours, sweet malt undertones are nicely balanced with some hop/roast bitterness. Dark fruits, coffee and chocolate are also there, no doubt! Aftertaste is long, dry and feels like after a bite of dark bitter chocolate. Very nice take on a foreign stout style by Õllenaut - terviseks!
