Bottle at RB London Meet. Opaque black color, good beige head. Nice robust aroma of cocoa and roasted malts. Medium-bodied. Sweetish cocoa, some bitterness but overall quite sweet. Caramalt. Vanilla. Interesting chocolaty, cocoaish stuff.

Bottle. Aroma is initial burst of pine with more prevalent citrusy, orange-zest type smell afterward and yeasty smell like on old meat. Appearance is massive, foamy off-white head--have to be careful with the pour (had to pour three times to get full contents into a pint glass), a little bit annoying because it is so massive. Good retention and lacing like spray foam. Nice crackly sound. After second pour, color was clear, beautiful dark copper with nice carbonation. After third pour, sediment came out and left it cloudy dark orange--should have left the last 10th in the bottle. Taste is really mild--not a lot here. A little bitter up front but a bit like wort, like it didn’t finish fermenting (or perhaps because I poured the sediment in), with a mild maltiness and fruitiness at the end. Palate is medium bodied, a bit frothy, with lively carbonation especially at the tip of the tongue and lips. Finish is dry and fairly abrupt. I was rooting for this beer but there isn’t a whole lot to recommend it. It’s not a bad beer, but the aroma and appearance are its best qualities while taste and palate are lacking.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Darien. Pours a clear dark reddish brown color with a medium sized fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of nutty notes, brown malts and stone fruits. The taste is nutty, faint chocolate, stone fruits, floral hop finish. Medium bodied, very high carbonation. Decent.
