Medium finely laced head which barely subsides. Orangle body with continuous carbonation. Lovely hoppy aroma. Broad, deep taste, dominated by aroma-hops, almost like an American IPA. A very good beer, interesting and highly drinkable. (0.5l mug on tap at the Bruckmayer brewery inn, which claimed they made it. This was 2005-09-01, so maybe things have changed since 2003. Not sure.) Probably named after the famous Teufelshöhle (devil’s cave) just outside Pottenstein.

2011-02-16, bottle from Getränkemarkt Grimm Schweinfurt (probably 6 months old), 5-4-6-2-11=28
Hazy copper color; generous head. Light malt aroma, very light vegetables too. Some malt flavor, dry but with a round mouthfeel, dry caramel too; the malt is more present than in the average bottled beer, but the dryness turns into a strange metallic feeling in the end; low carbonation, as promised; correct bitterness, and also the feeling of heavily refined sugar in the palate. Easy.
2010-02-25, draught at Charlie’s Pub, Copenhagen, 7-5-6-2-13=33
Amber color; creamy head, hazy, persistent. The aroma, grassy, with brewers malt, is inviting. The mouthfeel is quite dry, there is some cereals flavor, strong bitterness, and an ashy final, therefore not as interesting as expected in the beginning. Beyond everything, I really miss an aromatic Continental hop here...

Hazy amber color, thin creamy head. Light aroma of hop. Some malt; sweet caramel taste, strong bitterness. Quite good.

Flip-top bottle: An excellent kind of Kellerbier: light brown, only slightly filtered brew, massive hop-aroma - herbal, flowery -, extremely dry, long finish. A gem.......

(bottle) Dark hazy amber colour with medium frothy, lightly tanned head. Floral hoppy aromas with a light toasted and citric touch. It starts a little caramellish & malty with a very dry hoppy and longlasting aftertaste. A complex, well balanced Kellerbier. I have to taste the Löwenbräu Buttenheim Keller in the neighbourhood of St. Georgen again as soon as possible.

Bottle. Nice malt aroma with hint of hops. Yellow color with quick collapsing head. Hops flavor up front with moderate malt taste and subtle cranberry flavor finish. A bit more bitter than most German pilseners but refreshing, unique and enjoyable.

This pours a nice copper color but the minimal white head is gone in a flash. Malty aroma with a pleasant hop accompanyment. The flavor is malty with a bit of hop bitterness that doesn’t overpower the sweet malt profile. A tad thin and undercarbonated, but not bad.

A hazy orange beer with a small disappearing head. The aroma is of caramel and grain, and so is the flavor before it end on a dry notes. Thanks to Rasmus for this one.

Sampled at the Southside Beer Expo. Nice to finally encounter this minor style. A nice little noseful of German hops for what appears to be your standard lager. Low carbonation as advertised, but still enough to give this a light zing. Malts seems a little "aged," in a good way.
