LCRBM 2009. Bottle looks very simple. Beer in the glass deep black. Roasty aroma. Starts very roasty-malty, smoky, notes of chocolate and liquorice. Finish milder, but warming aftertaste. Good.

Beige-cream, small head over black beer. Stout-roasted grains, with aromas of lunaria, starfruit, etc. Sweet, roasted, with a long, just-not sourish flavour going into a bitter chocolate aftertaste. Medium bodied, lighter in the finish, spritzy. OK Porter, nothing special, saved by the bitter chocolate end.

50 cL bottle, courtesy of Mes. Pours dark brown woth a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, chocolate and light hoppy. Bitter, roasted and chocolate malt flavoured. Lingering chocolate and mild bitter flavoured finish.

(Cask at Marble Arch, Manchester, 24 July 2009, labeled "Pint") Golden colour with creamy, white head. Fruity nose with notes of citrus, grass and soapy, floral hops. Fruity taste with citrus, grass and a touch of toffee. Lots of taste considering the fairly low abv. Fairly light body, mainly dry. Fresh, tasty and very drinkable.

(Cask at Marble Arch, Manchester, 24 July 2009) Dark copper colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity nose with notes of citrus (orange peel, grapefruit). Fruity, slightly malty taste with citrus, grapefruit, grass and a hint of toast with bittersweet orange marmalade. Medium body, generous citrussy bitterness. Solid and very nice beer.

(Cask at Marble Arch, Manchester, 22 July 2009) Black colour with creamy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with lots of chocolate, black coffee and a touch of liquorice. Roasted, malty taste with dark chocolate, black coffee and a hint of liquorice. Generous coffee/cocoa bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Very nice porter with an excellent chocolate twist.

(Cask at Marble Arch, Manchester, 22 July 2009) Pale amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity nose with grapefruit, citrus and pine needles. Fruity, malty taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit, pine needles and some malty sweetness lingering throughout. Great hop character, possibly with more emphasis on aroma than on bitterness, and with malt to back it up. Slightly above medium body, sweetish. Very nice beer in excellent balance.

Bottle conditioned @ the Marble Arch Manchester. Again another ginger beer I "had" to drink for the sake of ratings. This one was a bit stronger.

[RBESG, Sheffield]. Cask @ Marble Arch, Manchester. After the ginger crap this was much better. Nice deep brown color. with a lasting off-white head. Roasted aromas with some bitter chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Roasted malty flavor with lots of dark chocolate.
