Bottle 75cl. @ chriso - Night of the Gaylords.Clear light to medium amber color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, heavy hoppy, orange, glue, plum, light alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20091229]

Cask-conditioned at the Portcullis, Clifton, Bristol 28/02/10. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, leafy hops and roasted malts. Easy drinking, with plenty more chocolate, black coffee and a hoppy, dry finish. Excellent [3.7]. Rerate 15/03/11 at the Three Tuns, Bristol. Thinner on this occasion with the hops perhaps too prominent. [3.3]

Cask at the Hillsborough Hotel, Sheffield on 7th February 2010. Dark brown with an off white head leaving strong lacing. Caramel and roast malt aromas. Bournville bitter chocolate burst along with a few raspberry notes before a bitter, dry finish. Well crafted and never overly sweet.

Bottle from the Marble Arch Inn. Poured a slightly burgundy tinged black colour with a good sized and lingering darkish tan head, quite a looker. Aroma was loaded, and unfolded more treats with each inhale; so much to admire in there.... bags of dark chocolate, hops, malt, a plethora of fruit. A clear 10. Rich and oily, this glided down wonderfully. Flavour was pretty damned good too. Resinous hops in abundance, lashings of dark chocolate (how famous 5), great roasty toasty profile. Alcohol skilfully embraced. Reassuring to know that beer of this superb quality is within an hours reach....Top notch Imperial Stout.

Cask, handpump at The Flowerpot ,Derby 30-01-10 in company of Loz, Simon (Haddonsman) my dad and Pauline Pours warm gold in colour with a white tiny rim of bubbles for a head. Aroma is hoppy but also quite tropical fruity. Full of flavour in the mouth, sweet silky honey and a wonderful bitterness the fruity flavours (exotic fruits) showing once again. Hops are leaping out but this is so well balanced and so drinkable, loving the stuff. A7 A4 F9 P4 Ov16 4.0

Cask, Marble Arch Inn. Deep dark brown/black colour with minimal tan head. Aroma and flavour had a healthy dose of leafy hop mixed with roasted malts and dark chocolate. Some nice juicy fruitiness evident here also with some drying bitterness. Really tasty stout guv.

Cask@The Marble Arch. Pure, clear golden colour with a good lookinโ plump white head. Big PHAT aroma that oozes juicy tropical/citrus fruit and resin sodden hop, fandabibastarddozi. Light and crisp with wonderful hoppage, this is on the money; these guys know how beer oughta taste and put most UK brewers to shame. Btw, a dobber depending on where you are in the country, is either a penis or a large marble......

Cask, The Crescent, Salford. Amber colour with a minimal white head. Aroma and flavour packed with juicy grapefruit/citrus hop. Long lingering bitter finish. Incredibly moreish. Excellent stuff.

Cask, Marble Arch Inn. Clear gold with a medium white head. Awesome fragrant, fresh hoppy aroma that promised great things. Flavour just spot on, bags of juicy fruit and terrific hoppage, all perfectly poised and leading to a gratifying bitter finish. Could happily down this all night. Why canโt more UK beers shine like this ?!!

Bottle at Chriso Gaylord tasting 09. Thanks to MesandSim for bringing this wondeful bottle of wonderfullness. Big hops. Smells like a US barley wine. Good fresh green hop. Some jellied fruits. Really, really good. Fantastic hops. A little flat on carbonation, but it is a barley wine. Fantastic swallow. Malts are good and not overly sweet. Lack of sweetness makes it really drinkable even at 11% Fantastic hops on finish. Not quite Thomas Hardys or Harvest Ale but what are? but as an American/British barley wine itโs awesome. Cheers Mes.

Bottled@Chriso Gaylord Tasting. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is plum, raisins, some herbal and mild alcoholic as well as toffeeish notes. Flavour is plum, fruity hops as well as some caramel, herbs, alcohol and mild notes of spices. Wellbalanced, even though itโs a bit on the sweeter side.
