Ægir Bryggeri
Microbrewery
in Flåm,
Vestland,
Norway 🇳🇴
Associated Venue: Ægir Bryggeri (Flåmsbrygga)
Established in 2007
Ægir Brewery was one of the first craft beer breweries in Norway – and definitely has the most distinctive brewpub. Inspired by Ægir´s mythological hall under the sea, the brewpub is built to give the feel of a Viking style longhouse. You have to go at least a thousand years back in time to find an atmosphere like this; open fire, dragon carvings and a stave church roof that wasn´t built in a day.
Since the start Ægir Brewery has continued to grow and in 2012 expanded with a brand-new production facility that today boasts a capacity of a million litres per year.
The export market has become very important for the brewery and makes up an increasingly large part of the yearly volume. Ægir Brewery is currently exporting to twelve different countries.
The canned beer production was moved from Flåm early in June 2023 to Amundsen Bryggeri in Oslo.

Can @ home. Unclear golden body under a nice, lacing tan head. Aroma has malt, mild smoke and distinct kveik. Taste has sweet malt, mild smoke, fruity kveik and low bitterness. Fine balanced body and same aftertaste as the rest. An easy drinkable and mild introduction to traditional farmhouse ale with kveik

Can at home. Pours hazy dark amber with off-white head. Aroma of cookies, orange jam, dark fruits, caramel. Taste is well balanced with some sweetness and bitterness. Medium to full bodied. Quite good example for a Norwegian farmhouse ale.
