27 April 2019. At Zythos Bierfestival. Deputy Taster: Anke. Cheers to Ama Deke, Erwin, John & Meeki! Hazy dark brown, lasting, thin, frothy, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, peanuts, caramel, cappuccino, raisin, cookie dough, licorice. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, lots of chocolate, cream, some licorice & vanilla, topped with quite a lot of ripe dark fruits; bitter tones provided by roasted nuts, mocha & a herbal tea-like edge. Dryish, herbal, bit earthy hoppy finish, more dried tea & caramel, some warming liqueur-like alcohol. Full body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Tasty Scotch-like.

27 April 2019. At Zythos Bierfestival. Deputy Taster: Anke. Cheers to Ama Deke, Erwin, John & Meeki! Hazy yellow, lasting, small, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of unripe mandarin, lime, lemon zest, yeast, white pepper, yellow apple, mellow lemon. Taste is light to medium fruity sweet, ripe apple & mandarin, wheaty & lemony sour undercurrent, quite yeasty into a firm medium hoppy bitterness with grass, pepper & grapefruit peel, which stays well into the finish, where yeast lingers in the back too. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Just a tad too dry, actually, and too few other aromatics to make up for that.

Hazy pale blond colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have a lot of floral and noble hop notes. Very flavoursome for the low alcohol.

12/IV/19 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ home, BB: 21/II/21 - (2019-460)

Clear pale yellow to light beige beer, small creamy irregular white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: nice citrus up front, then some tropical fruits, then grains, cow fodder, something sourish, almost infected? MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: bit malty, citrus, grains, cow fodder, super bitter, hay, bit grassy, fruity touch. Aftertaste: super bitter, grapefruit, little malty, bit metallic, chemical bitterness, rather unpleasant.

Bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, May18. Many thanks to Jeremy for this! Pours a misty gold, lively overly large white head. Aroma has bright citrussy piney hoppy notes. Taste is a little bitter, some hoppy notes, drying close, with a touch of tcp at the end. Didnt blow me away im afraid.

Paper wrapped 37.5cl bottle (bottled on 23rd Nov 2017) from De Bierboom, Brugge and shared on 29th May 2018 in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Lively pour, slight misty look to the golden body, huge white pillow for a head. The nose and taste had a yeasty and tropical fruit leaning, dry hoppy finish.

First beer from what is apparently a new brewing company in Western Flanders, thanks tderoeck for sharing. Textbook Belgian cobweb-lacing, pale greyish beige, moussy head over a blackish beer with mahogany edges. Aroma breathes lots and lots of Poire Belle Hélène and pear juice, next to caramel candy, butterscotch, cashew nut, fig, liquorice and a hint of gin. Sweet onset with sourish undertone, candied figs and raisins but also the pear again, sourish elderberry juice accent, medium carbonated with a smooth, fluffy mouthfeel. Caramelly and lightly nutty malt body with a softly bittering toasty ending; spicy, floral hop bitterness as well, followed by rum-like, warming alcohol. Bit unusual beer, seems as if pear was added and a lot of it, but in its base, this floats somewhere between quad and Belgian style Scotch, with the "Belgian sweetness" being dominant yet paired with toasty and hoppy bitterness. Interesting.
