Bottle from Awara Onsen, Fukui. Pours nice amber, some dense beige foam on the top. Looking the part for sure. Malty nose with light caramel and some decent bittering hop character. Little heavy and definitely leaning towards Old World. Tastes medium-heavy bodied, strong malt presence, caramel, just slightly harsh malt presence. Old school amber, sturdy and not elegant - but does the heavy lifting. Decent.

Bottle from Awara Onsen. Pours darker gold, some white foam on the top at first, does not stay very long. Nose is lightly grainy, touch of wet cardboard and wet malts. Tastes grainy, biscuits, light wet tartness there as well. Light bitterness. Not the greatest balance but nothing really wrong with this either. Kinda meh.

Tap at BeerFes Osaka 2018. Nose is rice and corn, something like rice candy, and a bit of dms. Oily and sweet, rice, thick. Not horrible but pretty lame.

Rokujo Omugi Golden Ale 5% on tap at the 2015 Tanabata Fest. On tap at the Tanabata fest. Crystal clear deep gold with a thick crey head of white foam. A bready fruity golden ale aroma. The taste is bready ashey sweet but not tasty. Worst I had at the fest.

w zapachu lekka kawa, słodkie i lekko owocowe nuty (śliwka, gruszka). trochę mleczny zapach. ciemnobursztynowy, mocno zmętniony kolor, piana dość obfita i ładna, brunatna. w smaku dość puste i wodniste, czuć głównie nuty kawowe, lekko słodowe i mleczne. goryczka niska i głównie palona. dość orzeźwiające i łatwo pijalne.

Bottle via Rakuten, it pours a clear honey brown. The aroma is peculiar, I find it hard to pin down - earthy, malty, dusty thick... My image is of something like being in a dusty grain mill where they're grinding up barley or some kind of grains, doughy. The beer has a decent body, med-full & smooth. The taste is quite nutty, malty sweet caramel much better than their pils which tasted quite off. This is fairly good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

------------update----------------Bottle from Isetan Kyoto, this time around the beer is a nice looking clear gold with a fairly typical sugary sweet macro lager nose. The taste is malty sweet with a bit of a bitter green hop bite and fairly crisp finish. This bottle is in much better condition but still a tad too sweet for me and kind of average. Decent enough compared to the mess I had before. Best Before 2014.9.25 ----------------old review 2.6/5-------------Bottle from Rakuten for maybe 575 yen or so. Served in a footed pilsner glass. It pours a muddy looking brownish gold with a thin fizzy white head. The nose is sweat yeasty & kind of off for the style - war too much of a clay like estery profile. The body is medium full &!it has a decent mouthfeel but the taste is yeasty estery candy sweet with a minimal malt presence & not much from the hops. Served cold it is drinkable but this beer is way way off style & while not a drain pour it isn’t something I’d go for again. Pass. Actually as it warms up it keeps getting closer to a drain pour, I wish I was drinking it at the brewery where it seems to have been much nicer than this mess.

Draught at the 2011 Tanabata Beer Festival in Toyama. Pretty golden color with a nice, fine head, cloudy. Rich, malty cereal nose, like a Czech pils. Nice malt character. Malty flavor, with a slight sour edge, and a strong vegetal character. Interesting idea, but there is a bit of a problem. Nice citrus hops, good bitterness, it’s just that the vegetal flavors ruin it.
