Tap at In Tha Door. Interesting. Caramel maltiness, little sweet. Aroma is a bit like sweets, bit thin, but the taste is nice enough.

Tap at Kibidote on the recommendation of the owner. According to Google this is a Licorice beer! Cloudy gold with a decent head of foam. The aroma is licorice and that impending off funk flavor - it kind of makes me think of farmhouse rustic Belgians. The taste is licorice but mild, light graham malts and a bit of that funk but smoother than the last. Weirdly interesting and not too shabby. Ap 4 ar 6-7 t 6-7 p 4 o 11

Tap at the brewery in Okayama. Pale hazy straw gold with a thick soapy white head. I believe this is complimentary with my lunch set. The aroma is a nice bright fruity hoppiness. The taste is a bit earthy and rough but has some honeydew melon and sweet fruits over the Brett/infected(?) funk. Not bad but these guys need to get sanitation and their process streamlined to make better, more stable and consistent beer.

Tap at Awa brewery. Cloudy gold with a tall, fine head. Nose of orange, lemon--Cascade hops, wheat malt, peach, some esters. Sweet, thin, oily body. Nice C. hop flavor. A bit harsh in the finish. Extract comes through.

light purple color. Musty chemical nose only of faint grape notes. Very light body with virtually no hops and strange grapes finish.

clear golden color. The nose is rancid. The taste is worse. Aiming for one of the worst beer in Japan, but not made by Niigata, so doesn’t succeed.

light golden amber color. Very tart ume nose, slightly tart and medicinal. Full body as it warms up it becomes a bit cloying with tart ume finish. Alcohol is present but as expected for 9% actually not too bad.

Kibidote Coffee Stout 5% It pours black with a tan head and lovely milk coffee aroma. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. The taste is coffee and a weird slightly sour edge. The pour and aroma were so promising but the flavor was the regular slightly off thing I’ve gotten each time I’ve had Kibidote beers.

Bottle I got at Chabara in the Aki-Oka complex in Tokyo. A light gold with a soapy looking head of white foam. The aroma on this is harsh: butterscotch diacetyl, ultra-mild camomile and some odd metallic notes. The taste is sweet at first almost like they added artificial sugars, that gross metallic solvent like character, maybe - very very tentative here you get some camomile. Ok, I almost never say this but this sucks. It’s off from start to finish and having had several of Kibifote’s beer in the last year I’ve gotta say one of my least favorite Brewers in Japan. Ugh.

Tap at In Da Door. Big, spicy ginger nose. Touch of lemon, not much else, but nice enough. Ginger ale flavor, like soda, but not beery at all. Tasty, though. Crisp, prickly, good carbo. Enioyable but not really impressive or beery.
