Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks troubles. Very dark brown. Cinnamon, cocoa, vanilla, roast, sweet, some chili peppers, spicy finish.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick three to four centimetre tall rich brown head that fades very quickly and leaves nothing after a few seconds. Aroma of super roasted malt, pungent resinous and piney hops with associated bitterness and finishing with some light molasses and bunches of caramelised sugars. Medium to almost Full-bodied; Strong roasted malt and oatmeal notes dominate with a lot of toffee and caramel on the edges, but the finish is dominated by the pungent and super resinous hops that are piney and citrusey as well and somehow cut through the pungency of the malts and sugars! Aftertaste shows the roasted malt, alcohol, deeply caramelised sugars and a good punch of body with an almost smoked/burnt characteristic, further complicating the complexity, in a good way. Overall, a nice and flavourful Black IPA that hits all the right notes and brings a full amount of flavours and balance together in a complete package. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Potomac Yard), Virginia on 09-June-2020 for US$1,87 sampled at my house here in Washington on 08-July-2020. 

Perfectly clear golden and light peach coloured body with a nice and thick three centimetre tall off-white head that fades quickly and makes some loud noises when dissipating. Aroma of super funky and ripe durian with the rotting, onion and banana note that you get from the fruit in warm conditions with a pungent brett, lactobilly and tropical fruit note as well - very strong. Medium-bodied; Strong funky yeast and brett notes dominate at first with a lot of pungent lactose and citric acid noticeable right behind, all showing some soft malt and very light fruits. Aftertaste shows some apricots and stone fruits with a dash of tropical fruits, but nothing like the pungent brett and lactobilly notes that were evident before. Overall,  a very funky beer that smells like fresh, very ripe, durian, but has a slightly better flavour, all without any real hop bitterness or pungency in terms of an IPA - this is just a 'sour ale' really, and that is up for debate, but it tastes nothing like an IPA. Deep copper and golden coloured body, all completely clear with a fairly soapy two to three centimetre tall tan head that leaves a pretty ugly lace on the sides of the glass. Aroma of floral and very perfumey hops without much citrus or pine notes and a touch of sugars as well, with a dash of candy sweetness noticeable as well and a hint of the alcohol. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and very herbal hop notes shine through, with some bitterness, dry notes and light sweetness, all with a good malt backbone and remaining relatively easy-to-drink. Aftertaste shows some grassy and very herbal funk at first with a lot of hop bitterness and some dry notes, all with a smooth candy-like sweetness on the tail end with some very small orange-y notes and a touch of pepper. Overall, a fairly straightforward and crisp East Coast IPA with a lot of bitter notes, all stemming from the grass and floral hops, but enjoyable throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Food Lion in Oak Hall, Virginia on 14-June-2020 for US$1,67 sampled at my house here in Washington on 18-June-2020. 

Lemon and bready cracker aroma. Clear amber, thin head. Lemon, tea, lightly tart. Medium body, easy carbonation. Pretty nicely done. Nailed the Arnold Palmer in a sour ale concept.
