About
Well guys, we just make beer. That’s it.

The public space at Brassneck, i.e. the Growler Shop & Tasting Room are designed to have you, our customers feel as though you are part of our process. The brew house & cellar wrap around the tasting room & growler shop putting you in the very heart of the Brewery.

We have a special type of liquor license. A Brewery Lounge. Patrons do not have to be seated as in many other Food Primary locations in Vancouver. This combined with our communal tables makes for a pleasant social environment.

We have a really tiny 10 Hec system, with an even smaller Nano system for batches of around 4 Hecs.

Even though our system is small, we have lots of different fermenters. 14 in total (including a beautiful oak fermenter called a Foudre). This allows us to brew lots of different beers on a constantly rotating basis.

We are ALWAYS experimenting with different beer styles. We are three & a half years old & we’ve already brewed about 120 different beers. From Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts to Corn Lagers, Sour beers to English Milds, Brett Primary Fermented Wheat Ales to Traditional Saisons, the scope of beer styles is endless & we intend to cover them all!

Our beer comes to you direct from the conditioning tanks in our cellar & sells out quickly, so it’s always fresh.

Conrad Gmoser is our Head Brewer & partner, aided by Jeff Leake & Scott Wannop.

We’re always evolving so get ready for more great beers as time goes by & we expand production & have greater capacity for experimentation.

473mL can. Pours murky blonde with white head. Aroma has bright piney hops and soft doughy malts. Flavour has tons of harsh, bright pine, soft doughy malts, and a woody bark finish. Really nice Chinook expression. Great fresh hop WC.

Dull colour, and hazy. Medium head. On the nose, it's sort of a spicy hop, herbal, assertive, some sulphur. On the palate, the lesser elements seem to really stand out. Lowish bitterness and muddled malts for an IPA - I'm thinking fermentation wasn't spot on here. It just doesn't even look like it should, and with such a murky malt character that's got to be it. Especially with the diacetyl. Oh, yeah, shit. Sink.

Dullish hazy colour. Loads of tropical fruit from the Idaho 7 both on the nose and the palate. Papaya coming through nicely. The malt backbone is okay, this did come out a little bit murky. Moderate bitterness. Again, though, the hop aromatics come through nicely and that really makes the difference for this beer.

473mL can, pours a mostly clear pale golden yellow with a small white head. Nose certainly brings out the corn, along with straw, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is rather herbal, bringing out plenty of corn, some husky notes, straw and a bitter finish. Clean enough, but it's a corn lager -- how good can it be?

473mL can, pours a hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma has lots of fresh woody, piney hops, a tiny hint of dankness, and doughy malt. Flavour is dominated by aggressive piney hops, a nice spicy woodiness (due to the Chinook), backed with doughy, biscuity malt. Finishes with woody, bitter pine needles. Excellent WC freshie.

473mL can, pours a hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma has plenty of salt and citrusy upfront -- almost smelling like a gose. Flavour has plenty of citrus, floral notes, and saline. Less like a gose, given that there's no tartness or coriander, but it's in that vicinity. Very easy-drinking, finishing floral and lightly salty. Pleasant for what it is.

On tap at Brassneck, pours a lightly hazy bright golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out bright piney hops, some citrus, bready malt, and then unfortunately diacetyl that shows itself more as it warms -- though it's not egregious. Flavour is bright and biting, with lots of bitter, piney and citrusy hops, a hint of hop tang (that'd be the Motueka, I suppose), with a thin, crisp biscuity malt base. The diacetyl then kicks in and ruins this for me, especially as it warms -- I had to dump this. Sad.
