About
Well guys, we just make beer. That’s it.

The public space at Brassneck, i.e. the Growler Shop & Tasting Room are designed to have you, our customers feel as though you are part of our process. The brew house & cellar wrap around the tasting room & growler shop putting you in the very heart of the Brewery.

We have a special type of liquor license. A Brewery Lounge. Patrons do not have to be seated as in many other Food Primary locations in Vancouver. This combined with our communal tables makes for a pleasant social environment.

We have a really tiny 10 Hec system, with an even smaller Nano system for batches of around 4 Hecs.

Even though our system is small, we have lots of different fermenters. 14 in total (including a beautiful oak fermenter called a Foudre). This allows us to brew lots of different beers on a constantly rotating basis.

We are ALWAYS experimenting with different beer styles. We are three & a half years old & we’ve already brewed about 120 different beers. From Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts to Corn Lagers, Sour beers to English Milds, Brett Primary Fermented Wheat Ales to Traditional Saisons, the scope of beer styles is endless & we intend to cover them all!

Our beer comes to you direct from the conditioning tanks in our cellar & sells out quickly, so it’s always fresh.

Conrad Gmoser is our Head Brewer & partner, aided by Jeff Leake & Scott Wannop.

We’re always evolving so get ready for more great beers as time goes by & we expand production & have greater capacity for experimentation.

On tap at The Magnet, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out oily piney hops, crackery malt, and some grassiness. Flavour has a nice oily piney hops, some resins, and dry bready malt. Balanced well, with an oily finish, fairly low bitterness. Good stuff.

5oz pour at brewery. Pours clear ruby with off-white head. Very little aroma, maybe very faint cherry skins. Flavour has a very generic fruit flavour that I can convince myself is cherry. Otherwise there is an earthy, woody character that is nice. Compared with other tart ales they've made this is very meek.

5oz pour at brewery. Pours clear deep yellow with white head. Aroma is dank and resinous, sweet sticky malts. Flavour has an oily, dank character, sweet malts. Maybe a touch too heavy on the malts, and the hops feel a bit clumsy, but better than the average Vancouver IPA.

5oz pour at brewery. Pours opaque yellow with white head. Aroma has pithy citrus, stonefruit; a touch oily. Flavour has a lot of orange pith, juicy citrus, some Nelson character coming through. Bitter in good proportion. Nice.

Poured from the tap @ HoF. Bartender said it was brewed at Brassneck, but aged in barrels at HoF. Clear blonde with no head. Sour mix ferm quality with light oak barrel notes. Okay.

Bright pale gold. Thin head. Piney, woody, with a fairly sweet malt base. The hops are bright but it’s not an expression I vibe with. The somewhat sticky malts aren’t favourable for me either.

Hazy, pale, tart, some funk…mushroomy, then the spruce kicks in. Spruce and tartness throught the finish. Balanced, the gentler acidity makes this a beer more drinkable than the Ile Sauvage one.
