Tap at Osaka Beer Fes 2017. Crisp and tart, lemony, lightly lactic. Good balance, nicely fruity, a bit of spoilt milk but it comes together quite well and is refreshing. 6/4/7/4/13

Tap at Gifu Beer Matsuri 2017. Hazy orange with a low head. Malty, biscuit nose, caramel, orange, light peaches. Somewhat sweet and malty, tastes very English, hop is spicy but not huge at all, estery as with English yeast. Full body, and almost flat which makes it seem like a real ale. Interesting and the best from this brewery so far. 7/4/7/3/14

A dirt like copper gold with acidic lemon yoghurty flavor. Earthy malt and sharply acidic with lemon and minor notes of baby sick which was unfortunate as I think it’s on the right track but veered off course with that.

Tap at Kobe Craft Beer Summit 2016. Fukuyama Craft Heart Coffee Wheat 4.5%
A coffee/cola brown with a thick tan head. It has an intense coffee and soy aroma. The taste is acidic dark coffee and soft wheat. Best I’ve had from them, the appearance was so-so but overall a well put together beer that was quite drinkable.

Tap at GJBF Osaka 2016. Hazy, flat orange. Nose of oranges, some vegetables, quite fruity, bit of spicy hop, and some caramel. Oily caramel flavor, decent hop flavor. Not infected. First clean beer I have had from them. Not all that great, though ok.

Tap at GJBF Osaka 2016. Strange, somewhat unpleasant nose of rose hip, vinegar, grapefruit, and detergent. Pretty, hazy, deep pink with lace. Sour flavor of roses, grapefruit, a touch of yogurt. Tastes much better than the nose leads one to expect it will. Rather decent flavor actually.

As Setouichi lemon at GJBF 2016. A light cloudy gold with a lemon zest and diacetyl aroma. Light bodied and dry. At first the taste is decent lemon zest and dryness but then diacetyl and an odd metallic battery acid like flavor lurks in the back of your mouth. Pass.

On tap at the GJBF 2016 where they were calling it a lambic. A bright clear red with an aroma of pickles and tomatoes, very vinegar like. Apparently they use a lambic yeast and have reused it many generations. The taste is lactic, acidic, sour, some bizarre herbal/spice notes and vinegar with a sour tart finish. Interesting but not my bag, kudos for trying. Many told be they liked it though.

Tap at Takumiya. Bright yellow-golden color, cloudy. Nose is very lemony, with honey notes and just a touch of funk. Bright, rather clean honey and citrus flavor. Crisp body. Still needs a bit of work, but a vast improvement over the first beer I had from them. Had it a second time and it was awful, thin, seemed infected. I will stick with the first rating here, but knock it down a bit.
