On tap as 'Alte Thorschenke Schwarz' in the fake 'brauhaus' of the same name (in Cochem). All four draft beers are brewed by Lahnsteiner according to the staff. 0.4 Litre glass of this tried on 8th November 2025 with a meal. Weak and watery Schwarz bier with a semi sweet front, drinkable but not great.

On tap as 'Alte Thorschenke Kolsch' in the fake 'brauhaus' of the same name (in Cochem). All four draft beers are brewed by Lahnsteiner according to the staff, this is the only Kolsch I can find on the brewery page, so adding it here. 0.4 Litre glass, typical odourless and almost tasteless Kolsch, wet and thirst quenching, but just lacking in flavour and oomph (like most beers in this style).

On tap as 'Alte Thorschenke Helles' in the fake 'brauhaus' of the same name (in Cochem). All four draft beers are brewed by Lahnsteiner according to the staff. 0.4 Litre glass, clean and clear golden body, white crown. Perfectly acceptable Helles, not a lot going on, but it's a decent enough blend of hops and malts without it blowing any bodies socks off.

A clear golden yellow beer with a white head. Aroma of dms, pale malt, grains, straw. Taste of straw, dms, some herbs, nothing special.

Had to have a Lahnsteiner after a long but beautiful canoe trip down the Lahn in perfect weather with Charlotte. Brown to auburn with a creamy head. Aroma promises prunes and burnt caramel. Taste is bitter with a sweet, prune-like tartness underneath. Full-bodied, moderate to mild carbonation, chewy, a bit clingy. Dry at the end with a faint vinous note. Somewhere between a bock and a barley wine. Nice one.
