Bottle from vintage estate. Pale with a brownish tint. Slight spicy nose. Taste is heavy spices of course. A little bit of a medicinal feel to this on the back of the throat. Yes, an off-beer overly spiced brew as with most of these holiday brews. A winter warmer? Maybe, not as much warming in the gullet as I was expecting. Decent amount of carbonation almost covers the forwardness of the spices. It says there is ginger and figs in this, can't find them. But, the wife says she can detect some figs, whatever. A little cloying for a brew, but this is expected considering its 8%. Its aged a bit, date code places it from october of 21, and this is sept 22, heheh. Let's give it an extra point for the 8% euphoria on the finish thank you. I bet the aging actually mellowed out its rudeness a little.

IPA's, I'm sick of em. Seriously, I just don't dig the over the top hop bitter bonanza that's been going on the past half decade. Granted, hops are a integral part of a good beer, but for crying out loud, it seems like every two out of three tap handles are bitter IPA bastardized. When is the plain old beer revolution coming? Anyway, like any other big bitter ass IPA is this stuff. Ellicottville is usually sticking their wet finger up in the air to see which way the wind is blowing and it looks like its towards the IPA genre. If you like IPA, this is terribly on style. If you like straight up clean friendly beer, avoid it. Just another big bitter ass bullshit beer. There, you have it from a lager lover. I drank it right from the can and it says german and new zealand hops, not noble at all, heheeh.

2$ bottle from vintage estate. Light brown on darker pale color. Nose is coffee. Big bad coffee taste but its hard to pick out any caramel or salt in this. Yes, pretty much tastes like the plain old Elly coldspresso. In the middle I do get some cutting co2 which makes this easier to drink. Still, its big bad black coffee flavors in yer face. Becomes a little more difficult near the finish, seems to be getting on my nerves and now I feel a little bit of the cloying caramel effects coming thru. I'm not going to drain pour this stuff but will not buy another. Finish is a little rude.
