About
40FT is an independent brewery in Dalston, Hackney, producing fresh, modern beer. Starting in the kitchen of a Hackney Houseshare where three homebrewers made beer for their house parties, the venture quickly moved into two 20ft shipping containers located in a disused Dalston car park in 2015, after convincing the head brewer of their local brewery to join them.
Over the last 6 years, 40FT brewery has grown organically by adding more shipping containers like lego and a building a talented team of 15 people. 40FT is now brewing to capacity on a 10HL brew kit, with an output of 7,000 pints a week
Brewing is understood to take place at both sites with more beer being produced at the new Walthamstow / Blackhorse beer mile location.
The registered office on Companies House is neither of the brewing locations so the address used is the primary brewing location on Lockwood Way.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2018, day one, 04/12/18. Black with a well presented tan head. Nose is mellow roast, liqourice, light spice, cocoa sprinkle. Taste comprises chocolate, roast malt, jammy fruits, figs, brown sugar, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent.

Cask gravity at the pigs ear beer festival 2018. A jet black coloured pour with a loose mid tan head. Aroma is ashy roast, roast barley, light jam. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, jammy strawberry, earthy, ashy roast,. Hint of smoke. Palate is semi sweet, earthy, moderate carbonation.. Lingering smoky roast.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Almost clear deep amber - brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Tangy dark malts, tangy bitterness. Whisper of roast. Tangy dark fruits. Bitter fruits on the finish. Flavoursome but slightly edgy.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2018 - London. Day 1. Pours black-brown with a bubbly tan head. Vague dark malt character, some burnt wood, earthy hops, old leathery berries. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Dry, ashy finish. So so.

On tap, 5.2 % abv, from the container taproom at the brewery. A wheat haze to a golden body. Firm white head, rich lacing. Wheat fruity nose, slightly spiced. On tap from the container taproom at the brewery. Covering white head, cloudy golden body, dotted spots on the glass. Mid-sweet pale malty nose. Buttery malts to the taste profile, hints of bread. Rounded ending. Decent pilsener version. (Dalston, London 28.09.2018).
