Rerate from tap at Gasthof Obermaier. Well conditioned. Golden, white lace, fine carbonation. Medium full chewy dry grainy, light juicy malt, good hop balance, grassy finish. quite clean, nothing wrong with it really,
Old rating: 6 7 6 6 5.5 Yellowish hazy. OK maltaroma and well balanced taste, but pretty average and with a unspectacular finish.

The best thing about this beer is the refreshing aroma and the frothy dense head. The flavour and palate are diappointing as the beer has a strange bitter twang.

Dark amber to brown color. There is a simple caramel aroma, a bit oxidized. Caramel flavor, some malt; the body is quite thinner than expected, and there is a light alcohol presence; even after calibrating carbonation and temperature it doesn’t get much better. Simple.

Dark ruby amber colour, with a creamy head beautiful head. Fresh aroma, with some malt. Good body, strong and pretty dry, with a lot of caramalt, which also dominates the palate.

Re-rate: Golden - straw color, low on carbonation and with a fast shrinking head. Fullbodied malty nose with finely tuned hops. The taste is a bit boring taste with a tilt towards the malty.

It says on the bottle Ein Bier wie Bayern (a beer like Bavaria). Well, in that case Bavaria has a murky-brownish color, has a strong vanilla and banana aroma. I would say the black bavaria is somewhat better than the regular white (really orange) one :-)

Re-Rate: Yellowish orange, but a bit too transparent for its style. Nice banana-aroma, but neither the flavor or body to back it up. Quenching.

Very lightly colored and bodied. Dry hoppy taste with a hint of hallertauer aroma when the beer gets a bit warmer.

I would classify this as a Schwarzbier or a Munich Dunkel, although it is definitely not up to par with most of either variety. This is a very unobtrusive brew, but it needs more of a kick to be anything special. Mild malty flavor, very dark with a minimal head and lacing.
