Keg at Crask Inn, Middle of Fucking Nowhere, just north of Lairg - Hazy pale yellow, no head. Strong apple peel, some cooking apples, bit of stewed sugariness, tannins, bitter tang at the back.

0.33 L can, 6.8% ABV; chestnut to dark brown colour, one inch of beige-ish head, which is, however, collapses quickly; aroma of butterscotch, cocoa, buttery, some peaty-smokey, prune and bread crusty notes; taste has similar notes to the aroma with some leather and soy sauce; good one!

On keg at Black Isle Bar, Inverness.
Appearance - deep brown to black and opaque. Creamy beige head.
Nose - prunes, raisins, booze, nuts and treacle.
Taste - booze, prunes, wood and raisins. A bit rum n raisin, really.
Palate - chunky body, chewy and a touch gnarly but balanced with the booze. Not too sweet.
Overall - a curmudgeonly old style of ale. Lovely.

On keg at the Black Isle Bar, Inverness.
Appearance - opaque black, creamy beige head.
Nose - dark chocolate and coffee.
Taste - more of the same with oatmeal underlying.
Palate - light bodied, creamy and this.
Overall - for some reason the Stout style doesn't suit low ABV as much as the lighter styles.
