Black Isle was started by David Gladwin in 1998. An unemployed beer lover, he set out to make world-class beer using barley and hops, grown on organic farms, without the use of destructive chemicals. Black Isle Brewing Co is Scotland’s only organic brewery; pioneering craft beer from our beautiful, wild - and sometimes wet - Highland home. Organic is at the heart of everything we do - we believe in making great tasting beer using only natural ingredients, grown without the use of harmful chemicals. Keg at Black Isle Bar in Inverness - deepest russet body with a thin off white top. Good smoky whisky nose, boozy warmth, lots of rich cake fruits, great body with lots of malty caramel hints sweetening up the whole thing.

Pours hazy gold into a willi. Off-white creamy head with excellent retention does not recede. Tangerine aromas. Crisp with tangerine and melon upfront turning to earthy pith and peel in the dry, medium length finish.

Cask at The Bandstand Nairn. It pours clear red - am er with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, sweetish, jammy fruits, jam roly poly, sponge cake, blood orange, brown bread and muffin. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, toffee, caramel, jammy fruits, dried fruit, jam roly poly, toasty, touch of wood, peppery spice, twist of citrus, toasted nut, zingy, zesty and blood orange with a drying finish. Average body and fluffy cask carbonation. Impressed to finally find this on cask. Decent.
