Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of black chocolate with subtle coffee notes was well balance and very enticing. Taste is a perfect balance between some black chocolate malt with a very subtle hint of sweetness and some subtle coffee. Creamy texture is incredible with a thick body à la Bells Expedition. No alcohol was detectable and carbonation was low. Definitely the best beer I have tasted from this brewer up to now.

Bottle. It pours a unclear, almost copper color, with a nice but diminishing beige head. Beautiful lacings though. Hops dominates the aroma, with pine and citrus, and there’s malt and sugary notes as well. It has a quite sweet flavor with a good dash of hops to accomplish the malt. Medium body with a little stickyness, and a long hoppy finish. I even think there’s a little warming sesation. Yet another Easter beer from Nøgne Ø that leads my thoughs to a traditional Norwegian Easter trip to the snowy mountains. (070326)

Nearly opaque pour, with an impressive dark brown, frothy head - deep roasty aroma, with notes of freshly brewed coffee, sweet cream, light anise, and some bitter hops in the background - quite dry, with strong bitter, dark coffee flavors - nicely hopped, with some smoke and woody touches complimenting them pretty well - a tiny bit of anise and prune - slightly herbal near the end, with lingering smoke and a little bit of alcohol warmth - reminds me of better vintages of Brooklyn BCS - nice.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a brown head. Sweet malt aroma with some roast/chocolate. Rich caramel/chocolate/coffee/sweet malt flavor. Fuller bodied - velvety. Seems like it has some oats to smooth out the body. Well balanced. Lingering complex sweet malt. Nice.

Bottle. Rich brown beer with red tinges and a tan head. Big roasty aroma with coffee. Chocolate/roast flavor with no hrashness and backing hops. Lingering sweet chocolate malt. Medium body. Like most of their beers I’ve tried, it’s well balanced.
