First rating, from 2006Initial Rating Date: 2/4/2006Now this is a Christmas beer the way I want it!Dark red in color, lots and lots of spices in the scent and flavor, and of course the beer is a bit stronger than usual. The head is a bit brownish and stays beautifully.9/5/9/5/19=4.7Second rating, Feb 18, 200850 cl bottle from Systembolaget.Batch 311, brewed 170907, BB 170912.Boy did I get different sensations this time!Pours beautiful deep reddish brown with a tan to brown head. Smells malty and cloves, other spices, but not very fresh like l remember it, a bit stale. Taste is sweet, some spices, lots of hops. It has a harsh bitterenss and a sweetness that won’t go away. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, big bitterenss.New score:6/4/6/4/13=3.3. Rounding off to: 7/4/7/4/15=3.7RerateTried 2006 against 2007 bottle on September 5, 2009Both were darkish red with a smallish tan head. Scent is a bit spicy and matured, some chocolate with a smoother feeling for the 2006 bottle. (Bottle 50 cl) Pours a slightly hazy amber with a tiny head. Aroma of yeast and nothing much more. Quite low in carbonation - almost flat actually. Fairly full-bodied with notes of yeast, alcohol and extremely sweet malt. Lightly hoppy finish. Terribly disapponting for a Nøgne Ø beer - and I understand why the brewery has been hesitant to release this. They probably shouldn’t have. 290106

A hazy orange beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet yeasty and malty, with a slight hint of wheat, while the flavor is alcoholic and wheaty. OK, but nothing special. I am somewhat disappointed, since Nøgne Ø knows how to brew good beer.

Bottled. (2005) In Norway there’s a strong tradition to go skiing in the mountains during winter-time, and in the Easter especially. I remembered from last Easter, when Nøgne Ø’s God Påske was launched, that it reminded me of the times I spent Easter In Hovden, at the top of beautiful Setesdal valley. The sun was shining from a cloudless blue sky, and I was sitting back in a sofa made of snow, facing the sun and just relaxing. Maybe a fire was on and we had sausages in it, always roasting them for too long or too short time. Oranges were peeled and eaten, hot chocolate were drunk, and life was good. Today was such a day here in Krisitansand, except that I didn’t have a fire in my garden, and I didn’t bother with the orange, but it was a good time for enjoying, and finally rating, my last God Påske. Had to share it with my girlfriend though, as she really likes this beer, but I can live with that. It has a orange-golden slightly hazy color, a lively carbonation and a small diminishing white head. A good deal of sediments had settled in the bottle, but did not come in to the glass unless shaken. Aroma is quite fruity, with citrus and pineapple, and some pines from the hops. Flavor has the same fruity, citrus flavor, with pronounced hops. Nice bitter finish, but maybe a little too watery mouthfeel. Refreshing beer that goes well in the summertime too. This is probably more a bitter with wheat in it, than a wheat-beer with a twist, but I really enjoy it, hoping that it will be brewed this year too. (060129)

Botte. Batch 128. Bright. Nice white head. Cloudy if you stir up the sediments. Dominated by citrus. Well balanced. Oily. No wheat beer feeling. Refreshing.
