Bottle 0,5l. Batch 150. Dark brown with a lasting off-white soapy head. A hoppy smell. Extremely complex taste: Caramel, toffee, apricot.. Slides into a roasted bitterness that goes on and on. It’s strength comes through and warms your cheek. A very good way to celebrate may rating #100.

Bottled. (#60, brewed 040330) I helped bottle this batch almost two years ago. Hazy orange beer with almost no head, just some white bubbles. It has an aroma with sweet fruits, yeast and alcohol, but it is too weak. The flavor has too much alcohol in it, so that the candi-sweetness and fruityness is subdued. The body could be fuller, but the finish is well-made with a nice mix of sweetness and bitterness. And a twist of alcohol. It also has some dried fruits and apple-notes in it. I have had many less interesting Belgian triples than this one, but I am very sure their next batch (coming up soon) will be better. This beer has potential, but it is clearly not matured the way the brewers wanted. Yeast-trouble? Anyway, the beer evolved quite much the first year or so, but it seems to have stopped now. It is a strong an potent brew, and it will probably be drinkable for several years, but I am looking forward to the next batch. Will probably rerate it then. (060314)

(Bottled) Colour is dark brown, almost black. Large, brown head. Nose is very rich with roasted malt, black coffee, dark chocolate and ... hazel nuts. The dark and bitter chocolate comes through in the taste as well, accompanied by coffee and vanilla (like those chocolates with vanilla cream inside, nice!), maybe some liquorice as well. Full bodied with a tarry (not really smoky, rather burnt) character. Finish is long and the slight sweetness is overshadowed by bitterness (hops or chocolate?). A very nice winter beer.

Bottle. A year or so past BB date. Weak wheat aroma. Almost clear copper colour. Big-bubbled, but quite stable white head. Weak wheat flavour, a little boring, but with a nice alcohol feel and aftertaste.
