Pours dark amber with a very large, lasting head.Nose show soft smoked malt, strong spicy rye bread, some toasty malt and caramel.Flavours include more strong spicy rye and bready malt along with some smoked malt and soft fruity, doughy yeast.Carbonation is much too high.Needs a bit more malt to back things up.

From a 330ml bottle on 27/5/2012. Pours close to black with a massive thick tan head (gushed a little). Has a huge aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt, with a touch of smoke. The flavour follows suit with masses of bitter dark roast coffee, sweet chocolate, cocoa and a little caramel. Exhibits an excellent sweet/bitter balance. Has a long roasty hop finish. The body is medium. My only criticism is that its a tad over carbonated. Otherwise, this an outstanding stout with explosive flavour. HopDog is one Aussie craft brewer showing heaps of promise and a willingness to make beers with real character.

From a 330ml bottle on 4/5/2012. Pours a light cloudy golden, not unlike a Coopers Pale, with a big thick head. Has a lovely fruity (passionfruit and nectarine), floral hop aroma. This hop forward with a big grapefruit bitterness presented against a moderately sweet background of citrus fruit and honey. The rye really does come through at the end, with some distinct pepper notes. A quality Aussie IPA.

Bottle in Perth, WA. Amber with a decent, off-white head. Hints of ginger and nutmeg spice, orange fruit, some Belgian yeast character and a full-bodied, moderately bitter finish. A great interpretation!

Bottle thanks to bluebetty. 10C. Cloudy gold with a large rocky white head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of passionfruit and lychees. Slightly sweet with plenty of tropical fruits and a dry, bitter finish. Slight soapy/ window cleaner flavours suggests it’s pushing the hops for what’s underneath.
