Description
In 1995 Harry van de Wiel decided to establish the Stadsbrouwerij Rotterdam. The brewery is decorated in the style of the old town hall of Delfshaven, the wood-copper kettles in which brewing takes place are a good example of this. In the meantime Harry's son has taken over the stirring stick and continues his father's passion.

On tap at the brewpub. Clear light-amber colour, fluffy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, a bit of sweet fruity hops, light malty. Flavour is medium-sweet, malty, caramel, light butterscotch, very light bitter finish. Light-bodied. Could easily be mistaken for a Belgian amber ale. Lacks a whole lot of hops and oomph to be called an IPA imho. Not an unpleasant beer though.

33 cl bottle @ home. Amber to red color (rather than the golden the label promises), hazy. Off white head, quickly receding to a thin layer. Aroma’s of sweet fruits and bready malts, quite sweet, snoepjes. Retronasal there’s some sour fruit as well. Flavor is only lightly sweet, somewhat grainy, bit of banana. Medium bodied. Finishes rather dry and lightly bitter. Pleasant enough.
