Description
Founders Ron and Judith Gillies first met playing poker on a river boat in the steaming mosquito infested mangroves of the Panamanian jungle. Their eyes met and they knew then that they were going to end up making fruit wines somewhere in the middle of Scotland for a living. The rest is geography.

They started the winery with a bottle, a book and a stick in 1987. Then before they knew it they had a big winery and everything. By 2010 they had opened their first café and bought a new wheelbarrow.

Bottle at Leighton’s Aug 11 tasting (bought at a farmer’s market in Aberdeen). It pours very, very light yellow-green, with a quickly dissipating white head. The nose is green apple, pear, artificial sweetener, egg white and lemon. The taste is tart green apple, tart lemon, Appletiser, sweet red apple and white grape, with pleasant dry-light tart finish. Light body and lively carbonation. Decent.

Bottle at a tasting, thanks to Paul. Clear, pale yellow pour, hugely effervescent with a small, fizzy head. Aroma is not too enticing, some artificial sweetener, weak apple. Decent flavor, slight tang, quite dry, nice apples. Light to medium in body with lively carbonation. Very dry finish but with lots of carbonation, some mild tart apples, tang, light sugars. Alright stuff.
