Description
Saimaa Brewing Company on yksi Suomen vanhimmista yhä toiminnassa olevista pienpanimoista. Juuremme ulottuvat vuoteen 1995, jolloin ravintoloitsija Pertti Oksa aloitti oluenpanon Mikkelissä 200 litran ravintolapanimossa.

330ml bottle. Pours with a clear orange/golden colour and a small, white head. The aroma consists of malts and cranberries. Moderately sweet taste. Light body, thin texture and soft carbonation.

Tap@Bruuveri Hazy orange color, good creamy off-white head. Musty, fruity aroma, some overriped fruits. Medium-bodied. Creamy palate, overriped peach in the thinnish flavor (for this ABV). Sweetish and a bit messy IPA.

Can (from K Citymarket Kivihaka, Vaasa). Golden colour, small fluffy off-white head. Aroma is grains, some mild floral notes along with some slight skunky notes. Flavour is grainy mild floral notes along with quite strong metallic notes as well. Utterly bad, and quite much the opposite of the commercial bullshit description on the can.

Can 500ml. First brew from Saimaa’s new Mikkeli brewery? Clear deep copper-reddish color, small white head. Aroma has metal and tartish lingonberry jam. Light bodied. Light metallic maltyness with tart cranberry flavor. Not really an ideal combination. Base beer is quite weak.

Dark almost opaque brown color, small steady beige head, some lace. Aroma has some smokeyness, more ashy-like, some caramel and yeasty notes. Light to medium bodied. Front is harsh-bitter, then hints of licorice and caramel, tobacco ashy smokeyness comes in the finish. Aftertaste has some nice hoppyness. Not bad, has some nice hops in it, it’s smokey. Just lacks substance.

50 cl can @ home, BBE 23.07.2014
Yeasty and messy aroma with strawberries and toffee. Flavour is also messy with yeasty notes, toffee candy, strawberries. Some herbal and grassy tones at the end of the glass. Flat palate, almost no CO2 at all. But at least the alcohol does not come through.

Can 0.5l from local market. Colour is clear dark orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Sweetness, caramel, hints of honey, grain and malts. Quite malty, too sweet for me but alcohol is well hidden. Not good but much better than this style cheap strong lagers usually are.
