Description
Saimaa Brewing Company on yksi Suomen vanhimmista yhä toiminnassa olevista pienpanimoista. Juuremme ulottuvat vuoteen 1995, jolloin ravintoloitsija Pertti Oksa aloitti oluenpanon Mikkelissä 200 litran ravintolapanimossa.

A hazy orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of straw, while the flavor is dominated by straw, leading to a dry end. A boring beer.

Bottled. Deep golden, minimal head. Aroma of plums and grassy hops. Medium bodied, fruity, failly dry with clean mouthfeel. Some herbal spices in a finish with medium bitterness. Definitely a step up from industrial lager

Draught. Golden colour, minor head. Malty and hoppy nose. Malty and hoppy flavour, not much different from Finnish bulk stuff...

2005 bottle from Juha, labeled Saimaa Luomuolut II, as other have noted. Deep copper body, with a chill haze. White head has to be coaxed from the bottle while swirling the glass. White and bubbly, fully diminishing. Smells grassy, earthy, almost like artificial turf; plasticy, you might say, but in a good way, somehow. Little bit of honey in there too. Flavor starts out with lots of honey and hops flavor. Bitterness is high relative to the other Finnish pilseners I’ve had. Approaching Bohemian Pils-like levels. Grassy and minty, it provides good bitterness and flavor. Fniishes with honey and hints of cream. Very good malt extraction. A touch of wateriness to the medium body, with low carbonation.

Draught @HBF2005
Golden color, small white head. Light malty nose. Medium-bodied. Malty, slightly hoppy finish. Some yeastyness. Clean and balanced lager but uninteresting and a big step down from lighter Marsalkka. (4/2/5/3/9 2.3)
Re-rated, bottled (BB 10/2005)
Dark gold color with small vanishing head. Sweetish malty nose. Medium-bodied, soft, fruity malty base. Some nice hops in the finish. Mostly clean and certainly better than the most of Finnish macros. (5/2/5/3/10 2.5)

Bottled (BB 06/2005)
Clear amber color with small vanishing head. Aroma has toffee, malt and rye. Malty, smooth, sweetish easy to drink mouthfeel. Aftertaste is oily with some late light bitterness.(5/3/6/3/11 2.8)
Re-rated, bottled as "Talviolut" and ABV 4.3% (BB 06/2005)
Beautiful clear amber color, not much head. Barley and toffee in the nose. Light to medium bodied. Dry mouthfeel with barley and oak. Some hops appear in the finish, slightly harsh, otherwise clean brew. (6/3/7/3/12 3.1)

Bottled (BB 02/2005)
Lager color, white head, lace. Light ashy hop aroma. Medium-bodied, malty, dry mouthfeel with late hoppiness and hints of sugar. Quite forgettable pils but in Finnish standards this brew is ok. (4/2/4/3/9 2.2)
Re-rated (BB 02/2006)
Golden color, decent white head. Malty aroma with light oaky hops. Saaz hoppy, woody, very Czech-like pils. Better than last time, good Budvar imitation. (6/2/6/3/12 2.9)
Re-rated @Bruuveri (4/3/6/3/12 2.8)
