(Bottle 33 cl) Pilsener-golden, slightly hazy (with a visble sediment at the bottom), thick "shaving foam- like" head, which never disappears completely. Brewed on 40% wheat-malt which I can’t really taste. Quite sharp bitterness, lovely fruity freshness. Resembles a Tripel. 121003

Bottle. Quite cloudy golden colour. Bits of yeast in the bottom. Small creamy head. Fruity, spicy aroma. Yeasty, wheaty, spicy flavour.

Bottle. Golden colour, semi-stable white head. Wheaty aroma. Full mouthfeel, nice wheat flavour. Aftertaste is quite bitter and a little strange.

Bottle. Flowery aroma. Amber colour, slightly cloudy. Big head, quite stable. Peppery, malty, sweet flavour. Quite well-balanced.

Hazy orange color, short off-white head. Aroma of some malt and hop, very weak, some blackberry. Very watery taste, bit sweet. Slightly sticky palate. Very boring.

(8.4 %) Dark brown, almost black colour. Nice head. Date and liquorice aroma. Sweet and roasty flavour with notes of coffee and chocolate. Alcohol bitter finish.

Undated bottle, though it’s almost certainly from 2004. Consumed 3/30/05. Deep copper-orange, very light auburn hint. Plentiful white head, with slight lacing, and low retention. Aroma of light hay and goldings hops, maybe? Oh no, here comes that powdered sugar feeling that we’ve come to love so much from this brewery (kidding). Very clean mineral water flavor, with some dusty yeast that just seems out of place. A touch of honey to finish. A bit of dry, slightly stale, biscuits with some butter and honey on them, is what this brings to mind. Medium body, low to moderate carbonation. No funk. Soooooooo uninspiring. . .

Black; no head. Aromas of balsamic vinegar and red wine. Complex, vinous flavor, with soy sauce, choclate, wine, and coffee. Very good.

Bottle sampled at the Montreal tasting 3/6/05. Another disappointing one during the mid-tasting slump! Good enough pour, golden-yellow with plenty of head, lacing and retention. Aroma of straw, lactose, and grass, with some lightly sharp peachy/alcoholic esters. Flavor is severely underwhelming, with a boring, bland base malt and clean yeast flavor. Touches of straw-like hops and a strange milk sugar syrupiness. I’m bored, the yeast is bored, everybody’s bored! Interestingly, they were asked by the Shelton bros to amp up the alcohol content and make it a bigger-all-around beer. I haven’t had the pre-amped up version, but I would imagine it to be much better. I can’t help wondering if the strange milk sugar flavor in here is a result of the brewers messing with the recipe, unsuccessfully, and adding more sugar to increase the alcohol. You’ve heard of a milk stout, now you’ve heard of a milk trippel! (It’s really not that milky, more in texture than anything, but it’s fun to pretend, anyways).

Bottled May 2004. Deep brown body, thin/medium cream head. Dense, complex aroma, opening with plum and prune with a touch of soy and strong red wine aspects, leading to a touch of chocolate, nuts, fig, and toffee as well as a strong alcohol kick. The flavor wasn’t as stellar, being rather thin with a rather heavy alcohol presence, but it was very bready and sweet with notes of plum, wood, and smoke. I was surprised that, yes, there was a very nice roasted malt quality to this. Thanks Zac (hellomynameis) for the bottle!
