Description

Bottle at Brewtopia ’04. The only Imperial Stout brewed in Belgium. This pours black with little head. The aroma is quite resectable with elements of coffee and chocolate carried by the malt. The finish brings the roasted malts to the front which add a smoky touch as it fades. All in all, not a bad Stout.

An unclear red-brown beer with a fine beige lacing head. The aroma is sweet cherries and the flavor is a weird sweet and sour flavor with notes of cherries, black currant, and corriander. It has a dry finish.

(BBd not indented) Beer is completely flat; fully flunky peach-ochre. Faint whiff of - vinegar? Rainwater, bit of malt - very little really. Adstringent on tasting, light bitterness, spicey (with no means of identifying). Much bitterer palate. Watery mouthfeel, flat, absolutely no carbonation. Obviously bad bottle - infected, though not undrinkable. Must try again.

A yellow beer with a fine though disappearing head. The aroma is of corriander and other spices - quite nice. The flavor is lovely though very standard Belgian. The flavor is of oranges, corriander, and yeast. The body is somewhat thin.

Fully flunky, dull light-amber ale; thick yellowish head full of strange specks, not stable. Poured in the worst possible way by the knowledgeable staff... Nose of cattlefeed, wet mash, dredges, farmyard odours. Taste yields vanilla, rosewater, "amandine", yeasty flavours. There's malt sweetness, but it gets overwhelmed by the flunky yeast flavours. There's a little, but certain touch of acidity, sourness on the lips. Medium bodied, some burning - not alcohol. Still not a bad beer, despite all the trouble the pourer went to. A bit of Saison touch.

Cloudy yellow color, big white head. Spicy, yeasty, bit sweet, some hops, bit bitter. I had 3 of these beers before this evening, and they were all quite the same: Marikenbier, Moinette Biologique, Saint Monon Biere du Miel. Just buy 1 and rate 4 ;)

Slight gushing to huge, fuchsia-coloured head, dissipating; amber-ruby-pink beer, clear. Nose of cassis, but also cat's pee(=blackcurrant leaves, valerian), cassis sherbet. Yeasty-meaty taste, like meat-aspic for pâté's or so. And a faint fruity flavour, identifiable as blackcurrant. Very light mouthfeel & texture. Aftertaste becomes soupy - that is, soup for a juvenile delinquents interning institute. Godawful light beer, perfumed as in cheap Dior-fake.
