Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Black body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of raisins and liquorice. Flavour of prunes and Dr Pepper. Medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. This drinks well for the strength. It’s less rich and dark than most other Imperial Stouts I’ve tried.

Thanks to Thomas & Magali for their house-warming! Bottle from Albert Heijn. Pours clear pale golden with a big, lasting, frothy, white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of coriander, wet pepper, pear, apple peel, lime, breadcrust. Taste has sweetish apple & pear, honeyish & bready maltiness with touches of sour wheat. Some spicy coriander in the back. Yeasty, spicy finish, slightly grassy hoppy. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Less sophisticated than it probably aims to be, but good.

Flip-top bottle, 33cl; BB Oct 2021. Poured into a thistle shaped glass at home on 17th Feb 2020. Mahogany body, clean and clear; on top a mottled blanket of uneven off-white foam. Rye like aroma with some spicy/herbal notes. The taste also leans towards a Rye like feel, again with some winter spices in the mix. Nutty, earthy and dry.

Dumpy 33cl bottle from a dodgy night shop in Brugge, drank on 1st Feb 2020 in my hotel room after a day of touristy wanderings around the city. Lager like in looks, clean and clear golden body, short lived white head. Some hop action in the nose and taste, it's OK, without getting your senses too excited.

33cl bottle. A slightly hazy pale yellow golden beer with a white lacing. Aroma of some banana, sweet malt, yeast. Taste of sweet pale malt, banana, typical belgian yeast.
