Description

23 April 2018. At Spontane Goesting, Itterbeek. Shared with Anke.
Pours clear golden with a big, frothy, white head; little lacing. Intense fruit aroma of citrus, mandarin, passionfruit, carambola, perfumed soap, flowers, lychee, honey, bready malt, some grass. It tastes medium fruity sweet, hints of passionfruit & citrus, and light to medium hoppy bitter, a tad bready. Dry, not too long, a bit bitter, hoppy finish, persistent sweetish fruitiness. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Unusual take on the dusty 'Belgian Ale' style.

Fles thuis geprobeerd.

At Cambrinus, Bruges. Shared with Anke. Pours hazy golden with a diminishing, foamy, off-white head; some floaties. The aroma contains honey, peach, pineapple, orange, pepper and yeast. It tastes medium malty/bready sweet and light hoppy bitter with hints of honey; dry, yeasty, (grassy) hoppy finish with gin-like alcohol. Medium to full body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. A 'Belgian strong Blonde' that really stands out.

Bottle from Sandersput, Ninove. Pours clear amber with a small, foamy, off-white head. Subtle aroma of bready malt, caramel, yeast, red fruits, apple, herbs, spices and grassy hops. It tastes light malty/bready sweet and light fruity sour, turning light to medium herbal bitter but not overly so; spicy, hoppy finish and very subtle warming alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Delicate and enjoyable 'Strong Amber Ale'.

Bottle at home from Beers of Belgium. I've always wanted to try this beer because I like the bottle shape and beer name and I am a shallow individual. A great pour with a deep, dark brown in the glass and a good head. The aroma was all roasted malts and this was taken forward into the flavour. The taste filled my mouth with loveliness and the mouthfeel was caressing. The alcohol was definitely there, but added another layer to the taste and texture. This did not disappoint and I would very happily drink this again and again.

Thuis uit een beugelfles. Bijna zwart, bruin schuim.
