Description
A modest jewel in the Luxembourgish brewing world, Brasserie Simon is both a keeper of the soul of good beer and a creative rebel. Rich in its independence, the company emphasizes the quality of its products and customer service to strengthen its Luxembourg roots.
At Brasserie Simon, we take the time: our fermentation process is still separated into two stages as we did always: a main fermentation in open vats which is followed by maturation in closed vats. A small craft brewery since 1824, Brasserie Simon is the only brewery in Luxembourg to have the latest generation open fermentation tanks guaranteeing the taste of real beers from the past.

Fancy metal bottle, thanks to co-worker. Smells and tastes like random drinkable pale lager - malt, grains, cardboard, some hop extract. Overall: drinkable.

19th Nov 2018. Monthly Share Group meeting in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury, only three of us this time. Thanks Mat for this 33cl bottle. Poured a hazy golden colour, white head. Plenty of hop action here in this semi-bitter IPA, light citrus leanings throughout. One of the better beers I have had from Luxembourg.

24/9/2018. Bottle from Cactus Marché Gare, Luxembourg. Pours mahogany brown with a small short lasting beige head. Nice aroma of cocoa, milk chocolate, vanilla, prunes and berries with slight ash. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness, and a very light tartness. Moderate body, oily texture, above average carbonation. Not bad, though a bit too fizzy.

Small but reasonably stable, lightly coloured head over copperish amber-gold beer. Creamy nose, green leaves, old hops, strawberry leaf. Quite bitter; toasted malts under a harsh metallic bitter covering. Bitter caramel and autumn leaves. Finish ha s a faint buttery touch, softening the harsh bitterness. Light to medium bodied, certain hopoil-slickness, medium carbonation. OK, landlocked Letzebourg is far from the American Westcoast - but all the same! IPA isn't the same as adding an unmarked amount of any kind of hops. ,Thanks to Stef!

Clear pale yellowish beer, small creamy white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, some honey, bit oxidized, sweetish, some chlorine. MF: lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bit sweet, malty, grains, some honey, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: malty, grains, sweetish, soft bitterness, some banana peel, not too bad. Probably due to the oxidation that occurred. :p

1/4/2018. Bottle from Fischer Alima Bourse, Luxembourg City. Pours amber brown with a red tint and a short lasting off-white head. Aroma of ginger, herbs and malt; quite subtle and not at all heavy on the ginger. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, oily and slightly thin texture, average carbonation. The ginger starts to slowly develop in the finish. Quite pleasant.
