I like strawberries. I like strawberry shortcake, strawberry pie, and strawberry milkshakes. I don't really like strawberry beer. Don't get me wrong the aroma is great, I could smell the strawberries while pouring it. Unfortunately it is difficult to make a fruit beer that I enjoy more than to satisfy my urge to try something new. That being said, my curiosity is satisfied on this one.

Ruby red colored with an impressive lasting head. Sweet malty aroma. Kind of tasted like a Scottish Ale as far as the satisfying malty flavor goes. This did have a definite hops counter to the malt about halfway through and to the end. This was not bad at all.

Tastes like some kind of home-made raspberry syrup that's been left in the cellar for far too long!

Rerate: 2002 version. Clean and bland, with a bit of malt in the aroma, and a hint of lemon and malt in flavor. Flat on the tongue, would be cloying if there was more flavor. In addition to lack of carb, the beer just falls flat, overall. Older rating: A bit sweetish with vague citrusy lemony notes. Works nicely as a summer beer - better than American standard lager. Not something to savor though. Keep it cold- unbalanced sweetness comes through as it warms. Not much hop presence at all.

Not as good as Sam Adams Summer Ale, but not a bad concoction. Very slight hint of lemon. Personally I think it could use a bit more. Nice color, fairly crisp but a little on the bland side. As a side note, the label differs from the one shown here and is much cooler.

Darkish yellow-amber with full white foamy head that dissipates slightly quickly. Aroma is balanced with mild herbal hops and light malt. Smooth full palate - but keep it cold, if allowed to warm up it becomes very cloying - heavy on the tongue and unbalanced. This is made worse by insufficient carbonation. Subtle hop notes and clean malt flavors otherwise. Surprisingly decent but not as crisp and pleasing as traditional examples (instead leaving a heavy almost cloying finish, even when still cold).

Pale. Light bodied, I'd say bland. The strawberry flavour is too prominent and feels artificial.

I don't have many OFs to
compare it to but I did find
it better than the Sam Adams
version.
