RIGHT. This IS a widdershins beer. Impossible to open, gushing over the table to a small, off-white, irregular head; and a hazy, orange-amber beer; Very inviting, vinous nose, malts, mild hops and citrus fruit. Alcohol too. Very dry, spicey (root spices as galanga,...) taste. Sweet cognad, with a lot of almondy flavours, not bitter; Cane sugar, my companions suggests. Well bodied, creamy MF. Well carbonated though not fizzy. Nice drinking beer (well - with a lot of moderation!) but it is well-rounded and balanced. A tad more hoppiness, however, would have been welcome.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear amber with a small, rough, off-white head. Rather neutral aroma with a hint of ginger. Very thin body with accents of pilsener malt and a discreet, spicy edge of ginger and - tea? Quite refreshing. 230306

Wild aroma, spicy with nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves up front, ginger if you focus. Brown sugar. Flavor kinda weird. Herbal funky, with a strong twang in the finish. Strong nutmeg and ginger on the palate is dusty and borderline repulsive. Strong and nearly un-beerlike. Dark earthy malts are there but you just don’t seem to notice anything but the spices. Gives me a shudder as I continue to make my way through this. Body is thickish, with fluffy carbonation that doesn’t manage to ease the finish on this one. Ruby brown color with smallish head that fades fast, almost no lace.

Pours dark brown/black into a snifter. Astringent chocolate and alcohol notes. Head skims the rim. Sticky and thick. Sweet chocolate and coffee up front with a bitter hop finish. Gets me behind the jaw -- never had that happen before -- usually only happens with sour foods. Alcohol resides in the finish.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear amber with a creamy, off-white head leaving a neat lacework. Lovely nose full of aroma hops. Medium body with a caramelish sweetness and some great hops leaving more flavour and aroma than bitterness. Great brew. 200306

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a thin mocha colored head. Coffee and roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt flavor with some lingering sweetness. Some floral hops. Smooth, medium bodied. Flavor left me wanting a bit more of something.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Dark orange-red colour, some head. Smell and taste is dominated by the very fresh hoppy character. Underneath all the hops there are hints of dark chocolate, cherries and red grape fruit. But the hops is what stays with you. Nice and drinkable IPA. (6/4/8/4/16=3.8). Rerate: (Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 9 Dec 2013. 7.6%) Reddish amber colour with brief head. Malty, hoppy nose with black-currant, orange peel, pink grapefruit, toffee and a touch of chocolate. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, black-currant, orange peel, pink grapefruit, a touch of toffee, chocolate and a generous resinous bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with balanced sweetness. Very tasty with a lovely, fresh hop character. Excellent IPA.
