Description
It all started with a humble homebrew kit and the drive to make better beer. Tired of the same bland and dated choices everywhere, Air Force friends Eric Wallace and Dick Doore set out to make the kind of beer that excited them; beer they wanted to drink. A hobby quickly became an obsession and it wasn't long before Left Hand Brewing opened for business on January 22, 1994. Left Hand has steadily increased its production, making the Brewers Association’s Top 50 Craft Brewers list in 2012.

(Bottle 75 cl) Unclear, dark brown and opaque with a weak tint of red. Nice, creamy, beige head. Vinous, port-like nose. Lovely fullness with lots of roasted malt and a harmonious balance between the dryness of the burned malt and the sweetness. Vague fusty, artisanal notes. Overripe plums and dates and prunes. The barrel aging has definitely changed this, but I still find the original a better beer. 031205 and 260708

(Bottle 65 cl) Beautiful reddish brown with tiny, stale impurities. Creamy, light brown head. Very malty, spicy sweet nose. Nice, full vinous body with wonderful roasted malt and sweet caramel. Dry, roasted bitterness. Incredibly delicate. 031205

Bottle. Aroma is malty, perhaps a little butterscotchy. Very dark brown colour. Coffee flavour, sweet and salty. Very nice. Malty aftertaste followed by a very late aftertaste of coffee.

Pour is a jet black with no head. Aroma is a stong chocolate and coffee with a touch of alcohol. Flavor is bitter chocolate with a touch of vanilla. The aroma is by far better than the flavor. Not the best impy stout but it has plenty to offer.

Bottled. Very good pale ale, reminds me a bit of Deep Cover. Nice balance of hops and other flavors.

Pour is a very dark black with no head. Aroma is very chocolatey and rich. Flavor is more of a coffee and dark cocao rich. Over all its ok for the style I can’t say its really bad of god but middle of the road.

[At Stockholm Beer Festival 2005] A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is simply sweet malty, while the flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and toffee, with a grassy dry finish. OK flavor.

A clear orange beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy, which also gives it notes of straw and grass. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel, hops, and grass, with a dry and very bitter end.

Bottle. Not a bad taste to it, a little sweet taste, and is quite light. Not much else.
