5.8/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 6 Flavor 6 Texture 4 Overall 6
Crisp and impeccably clear amber and copper colourede body with a very small, single centimetre thin, just off-white head noticeable. Aroma of light herbal and grassy hop notes with some more pungent malt scents and a dash of alcohol and nuttiness on the finish. Light-bodied; Strong nutty and herbal hop notes dominate with more of an English or European flavour than a traditional American IPA with some pungent and bitter hop flavours and a dash of more assertive biscuity malts with a strong yeast and caramelised sugar backbone which almost feels more of an EPA than an IPA. Aftertaste shows a lot of bready notes with a dash of light spice and more of a pungent herbal and floral bite from the hops, but definitely showing the yeast flavours and deeper malt/alcohol flavours that would be typical for the style. Overall, an about average IPA that shows more of an English or European bite than anything even from the East Coast (notably where the brewery is) than any other style of an IPA. Nice to try, but not worth trying to find. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Orange Blossom Trail), Florida on 19-April-2019 for US$2,37 sampled at home in Washington after finishing the USMC 2019 Marathon a few blocks from my house here in Washington on 27-October-2019.
