Tap. Pours opaque deep brown to black, almost no head and no lacing. Strong room filling aroma of coffee, deep roasted malts, whiskey and charcoal. Flavor is smokey dark roasted malt, espresso, a bit of dark bitter chocolate. Medium sweet with a light coffee-bitter finish. Almost no carbonation, but a silky smooth full body. ABV is well hidden until the far finish, where it provides some warming. A very nice beer.

Draft at the source. Hazy golden amber color, small white head. Aroma of lime, lemon, straw. Taste is bright citrus, tangy edge, raw white bread dough. Basil is there, but subtle enough. Very easy to drink. Batch #2, draft at the source. This is a brand new recipe, and might be a new entry. Hazy yellow color, large white head, solid lacing. Aroma of subtle herb, subtle lemon. Taste is lime with a bitter and herbal edge. Delicious.

Gravity cask. Murky orange color, almost flat. Aroma of citrus, subtle pepper, dust. Taste is slightly sour and funky orange peel and barnyard. Not sure the orange peel adds much, since the original had a bit of citrus going on.

10oz pour at the Big Hunt pours a translucent, deep brown with one ring of white head. Nutty, sweet nose, malty, brown sugar, toffee, cookies. Flavor is sweet, toffee, brown sugar, malty. Full bodied, sweet finish. Non offensive. Hides the alcohol well. If the idea was to make a beer that would take to barrel aging well, then they did it.

10oz pour at Big Hunt is a thick, opaque black with one ring of beige head. Nose has plenty of coffee, come molasses, malt, very sugary sweet, a little plastic. Flavor is over the top malt, sugary sweetness, molasses, toasted bread. Just a malt bomb. Way to sweet, too much alcohol. This probably would have been a lot better at 6.6%alc or 7.6% rather than the listed 9.6%.
